Re: Live At The Basement
On sat, I received what Amazon could not get. My DVD from z-roxx.
Watched it once over the weekend and I didn't thing 'wow', but I did think 'not bad'. I even enjoyed Jimmy singing 'WABMC'. Yes I know that compared to Gillan, singing it his way, it has been murdered by Jimmy but if this was the first version you ever heard and you were expecting a good old fashioned blues number then I wouldn't mind a bet that you would have thought it one of the best tracks of the entire evening. Jimmy gives it that old Negro Woman Bluesey affect and I liked it.
As for the rest, if you enjoy good old fashioned Blues played by some very talented musicians then I would recommend this CD/DVD. If on the other hand, you like Rock and don't care too much for its origins then you will be very disappointed.
PS. Why is it Jon has to slag off Ritchie so much. I have seen all of Ritchie's tours in the UK and have never heard him mention any of the Purps let alone slag them off.

What does Jon say about Ritchie on the DVD?
