Re: best concert DVD?
I also really enjoy Deep Purple Doing Their Thing.....I have the Concerto 69....Although Paicey's outfit causes me to chuckle through most of the performance!! (But it was '69)

Urm...Perihelon.
It's the only one I got. But the Woodstock DVD is pretty good though!

It is a must have but definetely not the best.
Some of the material isnt very good, and Deep Purple's music videos are terrible! and 2 of the videos are with JLT!!
Only 3 or 4 live songs with Blackmore and all of them sound terrible except for Black Night.

Re: best concert DVD?
I have all of the above including the Austrailian (99?) DVD. I also recently procured the 1977 Munich Rainbow gig (actually Les did....we are currently haggling over custody of the Deep Purple/Rainbow DVD's) My favorite remains Machinehead Live...great showcasing of Paicey's talents....

Re: best concert DVD?
hmmmmmm............. New Live and Rare is good DVD, but definately not best Purple DVD!!! Few songs are tragic (both with JLT, and two with Gillan too! - I mean Space Truckin and Gypsy´s Kiss). Quality of picture - from A to D-! A are Fools, 69, Ted, Bludsucker (best song on DVD!!!); B are good clips with Ritchie - Black Night, Perfect Strangers and Knocking At Your Back Door. Between B and C - Speed King (great version, but a "small" audience for these type of venue - only 25.000 people), Fireball and Purpendicular. Others? Bad picture or not hearable songs (JLT ). But still - a must have for Purple fans!!!

Didn't like Gypsy's Kiss? I thought that one, along with the stonking promo clip of Nobody's Perfect (which has live sound and picture although from different shows each! ) was pretty good. I agree that the Blackmore clips are a bit lacking but then again this is where the band was at during the 80s. Also got to disagree on King Of Dreams, great song and a decent promo video (much better than stuff like KAYBD, Call Of The Wild, SIFLS and others). The majority of the Morse live clips are awesome performances IMHO. I'd rate this one as a perfect release if it had a) something from the Joelene tour and most importantly b) something from the 1993 tour which, for me at least, to this day is the pinnacle of the reunion.

Re: best concert DVD?
I have to disagree with your sentence about quality of clips!
1.) King Of Dreams - it´s not Purple song! It´s like song by Rainbow! But with 4/5 Purple members!
2.) Knocking At Your Back Door - GREAT clip!!!! One of best Purples ever!
3.) SIFL - maybe not good clip, but the song is GREAT!!!
4.) Call Of The Wind - hmmmm... I don´t know what I can say about it.... It´s unusual clip but good song!

It also has 3/5 of Rainbow and both bands have the same main instrumentalist/songwriter and #1 Entertainer (not JLT). So it's still a good song and much better than anything to come after the Rainbow (main instigator) connection dissolved.
