Have another look at the video - it's mimed!

Alright Nigel,I decided to take your advice
and go back and have a look.
I first obtained this video in 1982,
I have watched it quite often over the years and have read a few different stories about it but can't remember where I read them. However I do remember seeing something recently that kept the story in my mind,
now I remember where it was.

The story of it being Rogers audition aside
cause there is tons of infos on Purple out there over the years that has since been proven to be wrong.

I have the E.P. version cause any self respecting collector should considering the 5.1 mix and any music fan should also have
the proper equipment to view it on IMHO. emoticon
Although the sound and visuall two other ones on there are a much bigger improvement considering they ARE in color and happen to be live performances.
This brings me to why
it's my understanding that it was a live shoot.

In the menue section of the E.P. video
there is a "pop up option" as you know,
if you watch this version of it there are some pop up infos.
The very last pop up states exactly this:

"This performance was also the first
recording of the track"
so this explains why I am still of said
understanding.

Can you explain what this means
Without simply saying it's wrong?

One reason I believe you is cause I see
Ian Paice during a tight snare fill he has
the sticks upon the symbols.

So please explain this if you will Nigel? emoticon

So you still think it's live yet you're starting to acknowledge it could be mimed.

The makers of the EP also claim that the performance of Highway Star was recorded in 1972 whilst No No No was recorded in 1971 - if you want to believe stuff like that, that's up to you.

[They were both recorded 21st Sept 1971; No No No was aired 25th Sept whilst Highway Star didn't get shown until 24th June.]

As I said before, do you think they'd record a single in a TV studio? They didn't.

Hallelujah was recorded at De Lane Lea, London, in June.
The 45 was in the shops late July.
The film shoot was done in Bremen, Germany, miming, on 25th August, i.e. after the record was released!

Re: Vault DVD

Just got it yesterday, and .... IT'S A RIPOFF!! I am so mad, but then again I am keeping it (cause I'm a sucker for DP stuff).

First, I already have the Beat Club stuff and Gillan's Naked Thunder DVD, but I knew that. To me, paying for the other stuff was worth the money, but I thought I was getting complete performances. But nooooooo:

Speed King kicks off after the solo, so you get one minute's worth of it (although excellent).

Wring that Neck and Mandrake Root are also short edits, but with great early Ritchie work on them.

Child in Time is what is making me keep the DVD. Wonderful and complete performance.

Hush, listed on the DVD cover is a LIE!! That song is nowhere on that DVD.

Then if you watch Gillan's band's performance after the DP performances, you will realize a great discrepancy in musicmanship. When a Blindman Cries comes with a particularly annoying piano performance. Steve Morris, who plays interesting guitar on some Gillan studio albums, is mediocre at best here.

So, since I've never seen 70's MK2 performances on DVD (or video) before except for Beat Club, I'm keeping this for Child in Time and the 3 short edited pieces. $22.0 is a lot of $$$ for that. Still mad about the HUSH lie.

If you would read Nigel,
I simply stated that there is plenty of bogus infos out there, which if I cared about such trivial facts in the first place
I would be bothered to a huge degree.

It just reminded me of the confusion thats
based around this particular fact thats all.

I guess your not the only one that goes around publishing bogus facts, the idea is to get it completely right before you
release the information.
Retracting such garbage only goes to show
that you need to complete your homework first. emoticon

I love the “Masters from the Vaults” DVD!
I really enjoyed the way they scrambled up the same old clips (I’ve had these on VHS
for years) and made it into an artistically pleasing recital approach with a great flow about it.

Someday DP management might get it together and put out that ultimate chronological collection with additional footage, but for now this is a really cool presentation of early Deep Purple. I brought the DVD to a party the other night and my friends loved it!

In my opinion, this is an inspired release and probably the one to buy if you want that same old recycled material.

Does any one else enjoy this DVD as much as me?

....lack of proper footage in your collection can easily have one drooling over something like this, expanding does wonders...as I always carry on about. emoticon
