I got the impression you didn't know by the way you said, "where did you hear that one" and the rather odd stance of talking down to someone who was actually there as if you know better.

Aparrently he didn't pay attention to thing's that were the
band's buisness and not just Ritchies affair's.
Plus I'm sure he will tell us that he wasn't there every last minute of the time.
There is a hell of a lot going on when touring.
They keep thing's as private as they can,
they have lives you know.
Someone working for them doesen't know everything. emoticon

Even a guy like ER know's only what he pay's attention to
and that can't possibly be everything that happened.
I'm sure alot of the stuff that happened,he heard about after the fact as well.Maybe even speculation to an extant.

Apart from the first week (IIRC) of the tour, Candy sang bv's on most of the dates. Her mic was set up on Ritchies side of the stage next to the monitor desk by Raymond.

You're correct in saying that I was not there to be an assistant to the band, I was there to be assistant to Ritchie. However, that does not mean that I didn't pay attention to what was going on because if decisions were made, they would still affect Ritchie directly or indirectly.
I wasn't around the band 100% of the time, but I was with Ritchie virtually 24/7.

As I have already said, if there had been meetings between the rest of the band without Ritchie's knowledge, regarding their concerns over Candy singing, then no one confronted him or made any comment to him about it. emoticon

None of my comments are speculation, it is fact because I was there.
Gm, where did you hear about these rumours?

Rob
I really wish not to get into an arguement about this.
You yourself have admitted that she sang onstage with Purple.(she has also mentioned it as her first time onstage)
I'm saying that I read in an interview(don't have the time to find it right now but in my spare time I'll track it down)the interview has Jon complaing about Ritchie going behind their back's with no notice whatsoever.
Who on earth would allow such a thing?
It happened only once said Lord and then everything fell apart cause Ritchie wasn't keen on facing the issue and not much if anythting was said between Ritchie and the rest of the band, before he tore up his passport in front of them.
Rumour or not,you tell me, and please elaborate genuinely. emoticon

PS
I'm only using this as an example as to show how much has been documented about what a burn artist Ritchie was at the time of leaving the band.I'm sure a hell of alot went down
that was never bothered with leaking to the press.
This is where people like you come in handy,
whilst there were two camp's at the time, yours is only one side of the story.

I have met Ritchie more than once and talked to him enough to see that he's not as bad as he is made out to be,
(I even beat him at foosball and it didn't effect his mood)
but I may have just caught him in a good mood.
He has been kind to me,but not so nice to others in the room at the time. emoticon

Hey Gm.
No argument from me.
I can only tell you how it was from someone who was present. emoticon
All the best.

Did Ritchie give you the axe when he darted from the band
he was also reported to have told one of the roadies,
"your fired".

If Candices mic stand was set up every night, did she actually sing every night?
Did the band have anything to do with the decision to have her sing?
Are personal assistant's treated with the same respect as family and friend's and fan's alike?
Did you pay attention to backstage antic's,
rehearsal proceeding's,and everything in general
or did you just mostly concentrate on your job?
I'm sure not every little thing going on was right there
at your disposal but maybe I'm wrong.
Did you see thing's from more of a fan's perspective than a professional one?
Just curious, cause this forum is definetly a fan
forum, and here you are every once and a while. emoticon

No, Ritchie did not fire me. I was his assistant until 2000.
He didn't tell the crew that they were fired. He just wanted them to be aware that he was not going to Japan and that there could be a chance of the tour getting pulled. So at least they could look for work in case this happened.

Apart from the first week or so, Candy sang most nights.
IIRC The band had no decision on her singing.
In my time as Ritchie's assistant, I was treated with the utmost respect by band, management, promoters and fans. I appreciated that and repaid them with the respect that they deserved. (apart from the pranks lol)
It was a great job, fun at times and a lot of pressure at others. It was mainly myself and Ritchie that were up to the antics lol emoticon
I saw it from both sides. I was as professional as possible when the job required it, otherwise I was in dreamworld. I felt privalaged and fortunate to be involved with not only the greatest guitarist, but also the greatest band. emoticon

Great thank's Rob
It's nice to know that what goes on behind the scenes is not alway's what it later get's interpeted as.
There is a huge amount of hype surrounding Ritchies departure.(some true some not)
I take it you were wtih him when I saw Rainbow at the Gallaxy Dinner Theater in Orange County Ca.1997

Btw was the birmingham show one of the night's Candice sang to your recallection?
