Best Purple Venue on the Earth(if not on Earth, on DVD then)
I have boots, official recordings, and the shows Ive been to, personally.
What do you think Purples' most responsive audience was?? Even if you werent there!
Italy has some responsive audiences. If the 9/25/93 boot is legit, that audience sung every word! Makes the hairs on my neck stand up!
Japan-of course!
Germany- swell...
U.K.- well, great, but even Knebworth '85, the audience doesnt knock me out.
The Brazil/ S.American crowd gets my vote! I want to know if the entire Purple show, from Ian Paices' NFTP DVD, is availible....now there was a crackin' crowd!!! PURPLE FIESTA!

I would have added: U.S.A, and 'other', accidentally hit 'RETURN', and runboard has no decent editing features, as far as polls, do they????
UUGGHHHH!
U.S. had their share of decent audiences, as well as 'others', but that Brazilian audience has me! They were freakin' rockin'!

Re: Best Purple Venue on the Earth(if not on Earth, on DVD then)
Yup, that was the first thing I looked for, and didn't see, Pony - no U.S.A. option!
Some of the shows I attended in the early 70s were fantastic as far as crowd feedback and enthusiasm. The first reunion show I was at in '85 in Worcester, Massachusetts was the same thing, sing-a-longs, Gillan in top form, even Blackmore smiling + laughing and having a great time.
As for the choices you do have listed, judging by what recordings I've heard through the years, right now I'm torn between Germany + Australia. The Japanese/Asian audiences can be widely varied in their responses as far as applause and cheering, I think it may have more to do with when the show was done as opposed to where in that context. I mean, through the 70s and into the '80s they were actually pretty polite as far as rock audiences went. That's one facet of "Made In Japan" that was always fascinating to me...how the audience in their reaction seemed to respond almost like they were at a concert for a classical orchestra or symphony...positively sedate by western standards.

Exactly!
Japan can be total silence in the midst of excitement...talk about 'sitting on your hands'
Certainly, Japan can be totally hysteric, too!
I'm sorry for Runboards inadequecy to edit my original mistake of hitting 'RETURN', as I thought I was still in 'message' mode'....fucked up what would have been a cool post
Guess I need to send FEEDBACK and find out why the original poster cant edit the poll and the post.

Re: Best Purple Venue on the Earth(if not on Earth, on DVD then)
I have yet to buy the Ian Paice dvd and see the clip everybody talks about. from what show is it? and what year?
I've only seen Purple once, last year in Oslo. and the audience was good I guess. but there are always lots of ppl who are not real fans, who just go to see a concert - so there will always, ot in most cases anyway, be a mixture of die hard Purple fans and the average music fan
what I'd love to see was a specially arranged gig with, say 15 000, die hard fans in the audience. that would be killer!

Re: Best Purple Venue on the Earth(if not on Earth, on DVD then)
When I last saw Deep Purple in the UK (last year) the audience responce was dreadful from where I was sitting up in the heavens. It looked far better down below at the front of the stage. When I saw the band in Greece, the audience appeared far more appreciative all over!
The UK audience was fabulous for Whitesnake though, and in the smaller auditorium of the Opera House, the audience are all hardcore supporters who love to show their appreciation.

Re: Best Purple Venue on the Earth(if not on Earth, on DVD then)
Nothing from Pool!!! I saw Purple show in Prague and our audience is BEST I EVER SEEN!!! (Especially reactions on Airey solo, Perfect Strangers, SOTW and KAYBD)! Yes, I heard, that in 2000 our audience was bad, but reason: Lot of people was very bad informed, and they thought that this will be rock show, they didn´t know that this was Orchestra Tour. It was unconfortable moment, but in 2003 - really best audience I ever seen!!!

I can easily say that Greek audiences are something else when it comes to energetic fans, I'll never forget the Purple gig in Thessaloniki in 2000, the release of emotion when Woman From Tokyo kicked in was something else!

Norway is one of them and so is Sweden.
The Japanese are well known for being quiet

Italy is way up there I have to say according to boots.
