Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
Yeah, Jon comment is great. "Is that a smile from Blackmore? God Bless him."

Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
Those comments are top of the pops! Geo, get rid of those other nine copioes of yours, and get the DVD! (or keep 'em, but get the DVD anyway!)
My fave comment is when Malcolm Arnold try to interfere with an improvising Blackmore; "now THAT'S a brave thing to do"

Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
Right, it´s like he would sit beside you and get on your nerves by explaining everything you see there, only that you can´t say:"Shut the !@#$ up, I wanna hear that bloody music!".

Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
To be honest, Jon Lord sitting next to you prattling on is a more exciting prospect than (some of) the music on that Concerto DVD.

Says most about what, Jon Lord or his music?

Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
Neither. The performances of the orchestra (and in places the band too). The orchestra is clearly not enjoying it while Purple is visibly shaken and stressed. Bar the excellent Blackmore and Paice solos (the second of which the berks that filmed it managed to edit out) it is not much of a show IMHO, a great piece of music nonetheless but an unlucky performance. Almost seems like an awkward rehearsal to the 1999 version.

Re: Concerto '69- Lord's Commentary
Well I think it's even more fun to watch this when you have those details, as some lifted eyebrows in the orchestra and so on. And the 'where are we?' look from mr Arnold...
The musical highlight to me is nevertheless Ian Gillans short part. It's way too short, but my god what a singer!
