Yeah, that is a great song. Have you heard the boyband cover version? It's criminally horrible, the people responsible for it should be put to prison.

No doubts about that emoticon But no, I've stayed clear of that shite.
But I've got Joe Cocker's tribute version, and holy smoke! that works well. Even better than Cockers version of "With a Little Help", if you know what I mean.

Everybody Hurts, by REM, and Two Little Boys, by Rolf Harris! emoticon
I also remember vividly cycling to work one time listening to Two Minutes To Midnight (Iron Maiden) bawling my eyes out: "To the tune of starving millions for a better kind of gun" emoticon

Well, I have to hear that one then.

But I'm surprised taht you have not heard the boyband version. It was in heavy radio play here, it was either the last year or one before that.

As you know, it's in the concept of these boy bands that they feature different charactes, a tough guy, gay-ish, sporty guy etc, and of course, the character must be recognised from the singing style as well.

So that cover is absolutely murder with these pretensious singing styles rotating through the track. Hell, the Americans should have used this instead of Metallica to torture the people in their Cuban concentration camps. Even with low volume the prisoners would have told them anything!

Man, I do my very best to avoid those boybands. So it's no accident, I tell ya! emoticon

I didn't notice that personality thing either. Sounds horrible emoticon
You'll find that C-o-c-k-e-r (hah! emoticon ) version on something called "Two rooms - a tribute to Elton John/Bernie Taupin". Quality's up&down, but The Who is doing fine with "Saturday Nights Allright For Fighting", and Sinead O'Conner is breathtaking with "Sacrifice". Worth checking out.
