Top Ten most disappointing albums:

Not crap albums, but albums you were expecting to be better, from artists you usually like:

Snakes & Ladders - Nazareth
Equator - Uriah Heep
Free At Last - Free
The Long Run - Eagles
Raw To The Bone - Wishbone Ash
Volume Two - Soft Machine
Abandon - Deep Purple
A Full Spoon Of Seedy Blues - The Seeds
Self-titled - Jeff Beck Group
Wheels Of Fire - Cream

Jimmy Page - Outrider (I really tried to like this one, but I still can't stomach it)
Metallica - ReLoad
The Nice - Five Bridges (I heard some good stuff about The Nice. But I really think this album is crap, it speaks volumes that I never listened the album through and sold it a few weeks back)
Dio - Last in Line
Rainbow - Straight Between the Eyes
Deep Purple - S&M
Led Zeppelin - In Through the Out Door (Booooring. All My Love is fantastic though)
Whitesnake - 1987 (has only one good song)
Zero Nine - White Lines (it's supposed to be one of their best albums, but I don't like this one while I like the others. It has the same problem as HOBL, cheesy 80's sounds)
David Knopfler - Wishbones (can I say boring again)

Like you said Rahul, not crap albums - though some do border on earning/meriting that description, in my non-humble opinion - but albums I was disappointed with...well, here's todays 'Top 10' emoticon, in no particular order, just as they occur to me:

"Stormbringer" Deep Purple
"Technical Ecstacy" Black Sabbath
"Child In Time" Ian Gillan Band
"Welcome To My Nightmare" Alice Cooper
"The Soft Parade" The Doors
"Straight Between The Eyes" Rainbow
"Presence" Led Zeppelin
"Tales From Topographic Oceans" Yes
"Love Beach" Emerson, Lake + Palmer
"Pop" U2
"Mardi Gras" Creedence Clearwater Revival

**emphasizes with the ?!**

2 of their best songs are on there, achilles last stand and tea for one.

i was disappointed with velvet revolver, what a load of mtv-crap for 12 year old girls that is.
i thought, hey the core of guns n roses are at it, this will rock.....well, now we know why axl rose fired these guys.
slash is still a very capable guitarist but what the hell is he doing in that silly band?

a) Yes - extremely disappointing to me. It was only the 2nd and a 1/2 new album LZ had put out in 5 years. 3 of 7 tracks were great/pretty damn good...the other 4 were and are almost totally forgettable....and better forgotten, in my non-humble opinion.

b) Agreed. "Nobody's Fault But Mine" was great, too.

WHAT?! with the emphersis on '?!'

Frankly I think VR are amazing and far better than GNR (with the exception of Appetite). Weiland is a great vocalist and frontman and far more competant than Mr Screechy Rose.

Having seen VR live I can safely ay they do indeed ROCK!

Re: Top Ten most disappointing albums:

King Crimson - Discipline (Elephant Talk and Thela Hun Ginjeet aren't enough to save this turgid, dated piece of electrocrap where 4 of the world's best musicians valiantly try their best to sound like synth samples backed by a drum machine...sorry Niko emoticon )

Jethro Tull - Stormwatch (Not as bad as A but I was expecting more from this)

Tempest - Tempest (The world's best drummer and this Alan Holdsworth bloke I've been hearing so much about, what a letdown)

Deep Purple - Abandon

Yes - Tormato

Metallica - Reload

Rainbow - SBTE

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (Not Now John is not enough to save this "album" of Roger Waters' whiny, contrived, pretentious ramblings...sorry Milan emoticon )

Blackmore's Night - PTWGC (I liked it on release but since hearing how much better they can be live it now disappoints me)

Wishbone Ash - Pilgrimage (Sounds a bit naff compared to the other ones I've heard and it's best track sounds dire compared to the live version)

There have been many, and I try to consentrate on bands/artists who are important to me.

By Deep Purple (starting with the ones that hurt the most!):

HOBL
NP
S&M
Abandon

Metallica - Metallica (and all that followed, but I guess I wasn't expecting too much after this turkey)

7th Son of the 7th Son - Iron Maiden

Before I Forget - Jon Lord

Chinese Work Songs - Little Feat

Dream Evil - Dio

High Water - The Fabulous Thunderbirds

Live At Filmore East - Jimi Hendrix
