They run a blues feature called Sunday Morning Blues that's pretty good. They played Lazy! About 20 years ago they played a lot of Purple even some of MIJ. US radio is awful these days though. So many commercials, so little music!nondisclosed_email@example.com (ffitz)Sat, 05 Feb 2005 04:03:25 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100480,from=rss#post100480https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100480,from=rss#post100480Deep Purple were always quite a horn section short of a big band anyway...nondisclosed_email@example.com (Milan Fahrnholz)Sat, 05 Feb 2005 00:15:11 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100479,from=rss#post100479https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100479,from=rss#post100479It's as simple as it is... Purple were never as a big band in America as Zeps were. nondisclosed_email@example.com (SneakyPrivateLee)Fri, 04 Feb 2005 16:48:28 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100478,from=rss#post100478https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100478,from=rss#post100478They'll play Zeppelin's worst song Hot Dog, but they won't play what would be a classic like Burn. What the hell?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Super Trouper)Tue, 01 Feb 2005 04:55:05 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100477,from=rss#post100477https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100477,from=rss#post100477You're right. It's usually SOTW, WFT, or, once in a great while, HS. The FM stations in my area in the early-mid seventies would play a lot of different Purple songs, but them days are long gone.nondisclosed_email@example.com (doggone)Sun, 30 Jan 2005 01:07:54 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100476,from=rss#post100476https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100476,from=rss#post100476Good topic. But what pisses me off more than playing certain artists more than others is that whn they play, for example, DP they almost always play SOTW.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rezi)Tue, 25 Jan 2005 08:04:46 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100475,from=rss#post100475https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100475,from=rss#post100475Haha...perhaps. While I would never claim to be a Johnson afficiando, I do prefer his vocals with Geordie over AC/DC from the limited material I have heard. His vocals on House of the Rising Sun are incredible. I've never heard him sound better!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rahul)Mon, 24 Jan 2005 21:21:47 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100474,from=rss#post100474https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100474,from=rss#post100474So I've researched Geordie per your suggestion, and it seems that many fans are shocked at brian Johnson's vocal range. He must have blown it post Geordie. Will check out The House of the Rising Sun cover.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Super Trouper)Mon, 24 Jan 2005 21:18:14 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100473,from=rss#post100473https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100473,from=rss#post100473We don't have great rock radio here in the UK, unless you're prepared to wait up until stupid o' clock in the morning to hear Still of the Night. But judging from the stuff that does get played, there is certainly room for a bit more imagination: Led Zeppelin - Ten Years After Queen - Geordie U2 - Rory Gallagher David Bowie - Hawkwind Cream - Trapeze Jimi Hendrix - Robin Trower Boston - Wishbone ash Foreigner - Rainbow nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rahul)Mon, 24 Jan 2005 20:46:33 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100472,from=rss#post100472https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100472,from=rss#post100472Hearing some of the early Fleetwood Mac would be great!! I never thought of that. Too bad the classic rock stations where I live can't be beamed to you. They have a three hour Beatles show every Sunday, plus they call September, Zeptember, and dedicate the entire month to that group. (Not to mention playing these groups day in and day out so much that I get sick of them) nondisclosed_email@example.com (doggone)Sat, 22 Jan 2005 03:23:35 +0000 Re: Overplayed/Underplayedhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100471,from=rss#post100471https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p100471,from=rss#post100471I´d be happy to hear The Beatles or Led Zeppelin on radio! But however, don´t you think it would be enough of the latter day Fleetwood Mac would just be replaced by with the early day(Green Era)Fleetwood Mac. Here is my list of five: Over Played..........Replaced with Eric Clapton.........Ritchie Blackmore The Beatles..........BadFinger Led Zeppelin.........Nazareth Aerosmith............Blue Oyster Cult Fleetwood Mac........Blondie  I only allowed myself to use a DP person only once. Anyone else have any lists? Cheers. nondisclosed_email@example.com (doggone)Sat, 22 Jan 2005 02:34:52 +0000
