Overplayed/Underplayed

Some bands/musicians have received way too much airplay on radio and need to be taken off for 6 months and replaced by a band/musician that doesn't receive much airplay. Here is my list of five:
Over Played..........Replaced with
Eric Clapton.........Ritchie Blackmore
The Beatles..........BadFinger
Led Zeppelin.........Nazareth
Aerosmith............Blue Oyster Cult
Fleetwood Mac........Blondie
I only allowed myself to use a DP person only once. Anyone else have any lists? Cheers.

I´d be happy to hear The Beatles or Led Zeppelin on radio!emoticon

But however, don´t you think it would be enough of the latter day Fleetwood Mac would just be replaced by with the early day(Green Era)Fleetwood Mac. Not just Albatross, you know...

Hearing some of the early Fleetwood Mac would be great!! I never thought of that. Too bad the classic rock stations where I live can't be beamed to you. They have a three hour Beatles show every Sunday, plus they call September, Zeptember, and dedicate the entire month to that group. (Not to mention playing these groups day in and day out so much that I get sick of them) emoticon

We don't have great rock radio here in the UK, unless you're prepared to wait up until stupid o' clock in the morning to hear Still of the Night. But judging from the stuff that does get played, there is certainly room for a bit more imagination:

Led Zeppelin - Ten Years After
Queen - Geordie
U2 - Rory Gallagher
David Bowie - Hawkwind
Cream - Trapeze
Jimi Hendrix - Robin Trower
Boston - Wishbone ash
Foreigner - Rainbow

So I've researched Geordie per your suggestion, and it seems that many fans are shocked at brian Johnson's vocal range. He must have blown it post Geordie. Will check out The House of the Rising Sun cover.

Haha...perhaps. While I would never claim to be a Johnson afficiando, I do prefer his vocals with Geordie over AC/DC from the limited material I have heard.

His vocals on House of the Rising Sun are incredible. I've never heard him sound better!

Good topic.

But what pisses me off more than playing certain artists more than others is that whn they play, for example, DP they almost always play SOTW.

You're right. It's usually SOTW, WFT, or, once in a great while, HS. The FM stations in my area in the early-mid seventies would play a lot of different Purple songs, but them days are long gone.

They'll play Zeppelin's worst song Hot Dog, but they won't play what would be a classic like Burn. What the hell?

It's as simple as it is... Purple were never as a big band in America as Zeps were.
