The New Pope, Joseph Ratzinger
Anyone has any comment to make about Benedictus XVI ? AKA Joseph Ratzinger ? I first was aware of this character when in 1994 i had the chance to read something he wrotte about how Rock´n´roll was a demonic influence on people ! After some research i got to the conclusion that he was one of the non liberal faces of the vatican, a conservative person and in my oppinion he will not continue the more "open" and "liberal" way John Paul II was following ! I guess he can´t erase John Paul´s legacy so i don´t think that the church will give some steps back ! Still these are just oppinions of mine based on what i learned about Joseph Ratzinger , i might be wrong and he might prove to be a very good head of church (but untill then i have my doubts )
Rock On

Re: The New Pope, Joseph Ratzinger
His picture is in my dictionary next to the definition of "dumbass".
I don´t want to insult anyone because religion is everyone´s private issue(even if quite an amount of humanity still doesn´t seem to understand that) but if in the 21st Century anyone is catholic by convinction he must have is head quite deep up his arse.
Carol Woytila wasn´t exactly an open minded kind of person:
He was against abortion AND birth control, yet he said he was so concerned about the problems in the third world, he was against any kind of homosexual intercourse and he got off telling people of about things he never could have had possibly an idea about, sersiously that guy was a prick, yet he was heroised completly uncritial by the media especially by the time of his death and after, when he exposed himself in such a perverted way.
When Cardinal Ratzinger entered the balcony today he looked like Hitler. He´s far worse than his predecessor, his a conservative narrow minded stuck in 1000 years ago kind of person that won´t anything but help getting the catholic church anywhere near realistic perceptions that would be anything suitable for the 21st century.
It´s unbelievable how people can act this way in so said modern times like this, you think you´re open minded in living in a free world but yet a big mass of seemingly rationally thinking people bows down to the dictation of a 100nds of years old institution that has brought the world so much evil in the past.
You can believe in god, you can even be childish enough to believe in the bible if you will but that doesn´t man that Darwin didn´t exist or anything you know, but I say this from the bottom of my heart
Organised Religion = Organised Criminality

Re: The New Pope, Joseph Ratzinger
John Paul II was indeed against all those things you mentioned, but it´s hard to change centuries of tradition in 20 years ! I think he did a lot of stuff that can label him as a liberal pope, ofcourse we have to consider this in a vatican context ! But Karol was a true open minded and liberal person if compared with Ratzinger ! I hope i´m wrong but i think it´s a unfortunate leadership ! Rock On People !!

Re: The New Pope, Joseph Ratzinger
Of course you can see him as liberal compared to Ratzinger but it doesn´t take much for that because compared to Ratzinger lots of highly conservative people seem liberal. Save a few things Woytila wasn´t anything but straight and narrow mindend, and some contemporaries even considered him to be stuck in the past.
John XXIII, now THAT was a liberal pope!
Cardinal Ratzinger as new pope isn´t unfortunate leadership, it´s a catastrophe and a huge step back for the catholic church, and what does a huge step when you stood with your back to the abyss before that?
You can´t change centuries of traditions in 20 years but at least you should give it a try, John Paul II didn´t bother too much and Benedictus XVI will do the exact opposite.

That's actually quite funny comment considering that Ratzinger was a member of Hitler Jugend back in the day.
And to the top of all, he was a deserter.
But I'm as disappointed as you are Milan, I hoped for an African pope, but I guess the Catholic church isn't ready for that yet.

Re: The New Pope, Joseph Ratzinger
African Pope would have been fine, although the sight of african catholics always makes me think of how shortly ago they were missioned which served as help to enslave them. Not a nice thought indeed.
Now we get a reactionist !@#$ who resides from near Regensburg (Ratzinger was born and grew up not far from here).
