Or "My collection is bigger than your collection so you have no right to speak". If someone has an opinion based on what he does have or heard, then he has every right to speak it. Have you ever thought that maybe this person doesn't have the collection of drunken Gillan based material because, as with myself, he doesn't want to waste his time, effort or money on such drivel based on what he does own and the many times he's been dissapointed, like myself.
I do however relate, and feel bad for you and the incident involving your wifes sister due to alcohol. I myself have lost a few friends due to another drunk driver, or another which I shared on your site as well, and am an advocate of MADD. Lately however, I've seen much worse driving coming from people yakking on cell phones and believe that this should be considered as much a crime as drunk driving. In fact, I believe the attention span of those yappin away on the cell phone is much more greatly reduced that that of a drunken driver. Cell phone yappin impairs driving much worse, unless the person is incredibly hammered.
I am about to start a group called CRAP (Citizens Ragin Against Phones).

Agreed about the cell phone factor,but hardly worth putting up against drinkin g and driving...the stats have way too long to even that out....it will be likely a century before one catches up with the other.

About the last pragraph of your post....the word "SHOULD" is nothing but your opinion,so saying "to me" might have a better more positive feedback...and while your at it,take a better look into what he's doing these days in the drinking/smoking dept,plenty of reports on the subject for you to read here,you're off the mark a tad.
Unless you're speaking about the past of course,but then why do that,it has nothing to do with how he conducts himself in the present.
Gillan's recent drunk driving conviction seems to suggest that the present isn't as rosy as you're trying to paint it when his conduct is concerned. But in your mind it's irrelevant, isn't it?
Well,I'm sorry that as you're a newer member of these forums that I have to inform you that I've been in a drunk driving support group with my wife for years...due to a tragedy involving her sister that we both witnessed.

That is never the basis in which I point these things out,but it can look that way,and I don't care,and neither do my attractors....so many more than my detractors,when the numbers go upside down,then I just might be concerned.
I've tried several ways to explain to you that what I've been doing for the last 25 years takes one hell of alot of work,country to country,dealing with culture to culture...and knowing little on the subject of whos history I've been compliling,would be unlikely,and that is the elusive point you and not so many others,but still to a slight annoying degree,don't want to see that for what it turely is...
When I am challenged as to the integrity of infos I pass along,I have no choice but to defend myself this way,and just like you,I don't care who it detracts,and it attracts way more than it detracts...I'm not in search of sharing infos with casual fans that see my situation the way you do,and they can drop by the wayside if I don't have anything they need to know,for all I care...I'm not the artist,just the supporter.
Now lets hear more of your great stories that are truely informative and entertaining,not to mention the ongoing stress factor of your own valuble belongings which you've carried on about much longer on the net than I have,and helped prompt me to surface here,it's that behavior that inspired me to build the micstand character,and tell it from my perspective.
I hope you get the gist....but could really care less by now,hopefully one day I'll find the words to put it in that click for you

But what the hell are you talking about with me carrying on about my own valuable belongings. I rarley mention my own priceless aquisitions and have never used them in an argument to declare my own worth over anyone elses when it comes to what I can post or what someone else should be allowed to post. I understand your efforts to collect what you have aquired and certainly appreciate what you have to offer in terms of knowledge and history. But it should not be used to denigrade someone who has an opinion differing from yours. This is where your "Mine is bigger than yours" mentality actually downgrades whatever it is you have to say.
Our opinions are based on what we have and what we've seen and I'm quite sure if we had the library of your caliber to judge from, we would have an even less respect for Gillan than what we already have. We can only go by what litlle we have and it seems to be enough to turn us off from digging deeper into the mans back catalogues.

I think you need to keep your posts in better check,and btw,when I said "longer than me" I meant I was reading your braggs...yes braggs,for years before I surfaced in the THS boards and maybe,just maybe my usename character stemms from that and that only Brian,all the while I'd seen your pictures of you and your "pricelss" (agreeable) items,posted in several places on the net(fair is fair in my neighborhood),combined with your tunnell visual effects about Ritchie and how the two of you were sliced at the head at birth.
I don't downgrade myself anymore than you do,and in fact I don't do it much at all by this,because for every detractor,there are five attractors,and that is a modest figure,and remember that I never inteded to attract you...but have to a pespectfull degree...what I do is for those to read,and either get in touch and further elaborate privatley about a subject,of which they do and thats working well,and don't care who the post they read it in is directed at_one _single_bit.

I posted pics of my possesions once, on my own website back in 2001. I have only mentioned them here when a thread was started asking for our prized DP possesions. That's it. The amount of times you want to visit them or admire it is up to you. I don't push it nor do I think I have any authority to play the "mine is better than yours" game with anyone. Oh yeah..I forgot about one time that MoreParanoidThanMostWhoDisRespectsHisWifeOnThisForum re-posted a pic of my guitars, taken from my site, not knowing that he was arguing with the owner.

Lets just put it this way...all you had to do was order your guitars and pay top dollar for them...but the task of getting Ritchie to sign them was a huge risk you took of transporting them to the place where he did,and carry them with you as if you're some sort of kings coat tailer
