New Doogie with Yngwie clips up
Only four songs are here but check it out

I would say this is as good as Attack...a very solid follow up. The production seems even better, the drums sound fantastic and of course the vocals! (Also if you do not like Yngwie this will not change your mind) Looks like I'm going to be having some fun in the gym air drumming on the stairmaster with this stuff!

Agreed. I listened to the clips and it sounds the same as just about every other Malmsteen album.
DW's vocals sounded different, which is nice, but it's not enough for me to spring for this one.
I really want to like each new Malmsteen release. I've got every other album. But with the exception of the tribute and concerto albums, the last one I really liked was Fire & Ice.
Consistency from an artist can be a good thing, but in Malmsteen's case it just feels like the same album is released every year or so.

Re: New Doogie with Yngwie clips up
I got the whole album (thanks to Scotsnake) and quite frankly it sounds awful... The same old riffs and solos, no real melodies to latch on, choruses that consist of mere chanting of the song title... Really, really disappointing (and it pains me to say that since I am a big Yngwie fan). Attack! was much better.
The only saving grace on the album is Dougie's performance who is absolutely on the top of his game! Some tracks like for example Russian Roulette are lifted from mediocrity to something decent from the singing alone. The production is also not too shabby...

Generally agree. A couple of the instrumentals are pretty good, and I like The Bogeyman - sounds more like Cornerstone than Yngwie to me. Cherokee Warrior is good also, although would rather have heard Doogie on this one than Yngwie's vocals.
But yes, the "same old riffs and solos" are beginning to get a bit tiresome, even to an Yngwie fan. Time for a change in direction, methinks. Doubt it'll happen though!

Re: New Doogie with Yngwie clips up
I'm not buying that crap. Yngwie sucked on all records except Odyssey and Trial by Fire of course where he was saved by the genuis of JLT. His wanking drives me mad. I'm going slower then him when I see Monique Alexander or Chrissy Moran's latest pics!
From the bytes I heard now he sucks even more. This guy must be prohibited from touching the guitar and taking advantage of ex-Rainbow members poor financial situation!

Re: New Doogie with Yngwie clips up
Have to say I have tried playing this one more and it does get better after each listen so maybe I should retract that "awful" comment. It's not one of his best albums of course but certain tracks do grow on you, like Winds Of War and Bogeyman (which like John says is very Cornerstone-like and probably my fave of the album at the moment). Russian Roulette, Beauty And A Beast (very Rainbow this one) and the instrumentals are also very good.
All in all for an Yngwie fan it's not a bad offering to be honest but the 72 mins of music plus the fact he's got a knack of writing poor shouting choruses since Alchemy (he should just bite the bullet and allow a guy like Dougie some writing input on lyrics & melodies, bet that could work wonders) do grate quite a lot. Production's very good however, easily the best one since Facing The Animal (98). Still, as I said, it's not the disaster I initially thought it was when I first played it!
