Perfect Snake lineup!

OK, so Covers is not going to team up with M3 in the forseeable future, so if we take those guys out of the equation, what would be your dream Whitesnake line-up for the tour this year?

Mine:

David Coverdale - Vocals
Tommy Aldridge - Drums
Gary Moore - Guitar
Robin Trower - Guitar
Billy Sheeham - Bass
Timothy Drury - Keys (you can hardly hear him anyway)

Haha...in my dreams, but it would make a fabulous gig, I reckon! emoticon

Re: Perfect Snake lineup!

Whilst Gary Moore is a great guitar player, his ego will not allow him to join another band!!

Here's what I think:

David Coverdale - vocals
Brian Robertson - guitar
Janick Gers - guitar
Rudy Sarzo - bass
Geoff Nicholls - keyboards
Tommy Aldrdige - drums

DC has been playing with American guitarists for too long! He needs to get back to his roots and start playing with some gutsy, good ol' fashioned British banjo players! Robertson was a treat in Thin Lizzy and Gers worked with Gillan and Maiden. Sarzo may seem like an odd choice, but him and Aldrdige worked well in Ozzy's band and Geoff Nicholls had a subtle, yet effective touch in Sabbath.

Oh, I know he would never consider joining, bt I reckon it could work.

The thought struck me when I saw him open for Whitesnake last year.

Gary is !@#$ hot on guitar, but can't sing. Whitesnake came on and had a !@#$ hot lead singer, but had a couple of generic (though capable) metal guitarists with him.

Gary and David were crying out for each other, whether they realised it or not! emoticon

What!!! Moore opening for Whitesnake?
What has happened to him?

You're right he can't sing, and I've not heard anything of him lately, but opening for this joke of Whitesnake.....too sad.

Perhaps 'opening' is the wrong word. It was the Monsters of Rock tour. Whitesnake headlined the bill, Gary Moore was before them, and Y&T opened!

Whitesnake were fabulous. Gary Moore disappointing. His Parisienne Walkways was stunning, but his singing on a lot of tracks was terrible. He murdered Wishing Well.

I think the promoters got the order of the bill dead right.

Ok someone has to play last. I didn't go see Whitesnake, mainly because of the reported setlists and the boots I heard from 2003.

A reason I never really came into Moore's solo-stuff was his "singing". It's absolutely terrible, save for a few songs. I always found it hillarious, when he in an interview said, that when there's no good singers, I can do it better myself. He was/is dead wrong.

But apart from Moore's "singing", he normally gives a good show. I don't know of know, since I haven't seen him live since BBM.

Noooo! Don't give up on them. David Coverdale is fantastic live. I've got a couple of boots from recent tours, and they go no where near to representing how good it actually is.

I don't think I've ever seen a better frontman. He captivates the audience. You just don't get that feeling from listening to a piece of plastic while doing the housework.

While most European fans will question the setlist, if you can just get over the fact that there won't be that many older songs, you will be in for a fabulous night of rock n roll.

This is David Coverdale we're talking about. He played with Purple. He's got to be good. And my God, he's sensational!

And Evans' DP?

Granted WS was/is DC's band from day one, but to me the musicians he's chosen, and the set they play is not that "hot".
I could be tempted to go and see them though, but I'd still miss the real Whitesnake. The Whitesnake that made me go to their shows, long after I found their albums being....just the same.

But true WS is Coverdale, and he is a great frontman, except for his sexual obsession. I am a guy, and don't need to look at another guy grabbing his balls every 2 minutes, just to see if he can get another teenage girl in the sack after the show. Maybe that's all changed, I don't know, haven't seen him since somewhere in the '90ies.

Good question! I was think about this a while ago.

Guitar - Steve Vai (I know he wasn't universally popular but I thought he really kicked some arse with Dave)

Guitar - Adrian Vandenberg (he's more bluesy then Vai and they made a good combo, plus he's been one of WS's best writers)

Bass - Billy Sheehan - Agree with this suggestion I think he's an awsome bassist!

Drums - Tommy Aldridge - Gotta be really!

Keys - Derek Sherinian - Might be interesting I thought he was excellent in Dream Theater

Actually I have to agree with Beese...

Guitar: Steve Vai
Guitar: Adrian Vandenberg
Bass: Marco Mendoza (Because he's a good
        singer)
Drums: Tommy Aldridge

Vai/Vandenberg made a great team...
