Re: Whats the point in another tour...??
What do you mean "no new material??"
Ok-- he just released all new material on his site: New into the light stuff, new Coverdale Page stuff, and with "Sunshine Lady" from Tony Franklin's new CD, there is atleast 5 or six new songs that no one has heard before!!
AND-- the point of a new WS tour is to have fun... SEE DAVID AND HAVE FUN, DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHO HE IS TOURING WITH... CAUSE NEXT YEAR THE BAND WILL PROBABLY BE DIFFERENT

Exactly. Well put, Christos.

What's the point in another tour?
To see one of the greatest frontman and vocalists of his era singing some of rock's finest songs.
That's a good enough reason for me!
Not too concerned about the backing band these days, so long as they are capable musicians.
This is David's show and has been for many years.
On the two occasions I saw him, he had the audience in the palm of his hand better than anyone else I ever saw. It's an incredible talent. And his voice was in great shape!
The gigs I went to were fun, full of atmosphere and very enjoyable.
I'd definitely go again, if he came back here.

Re: Whats the point in another tour...??
amen brother! I'll go see David perform anywhere anytime.
I do however wish he would take some time on stage and tone down the american metal sound to perform some of his older material in the classic 70's Whitesnake style.
I once saw Sammy Hagar send the rest of the band off stage, bring out an accoustic guitar and sat right down on the front edge of the stage and perform Where Eagles Fly all by himself. Talk about absolute magic. These are the special moments I crave when I go to a live show.
Unfortunately, these days, with all the so called "Classic" rock tours the bands tend to just climb up on stange and bash their way thru the popular songs and be done with it. It's good to hear the songs live again but they need to interject some sense of adventure and life into the material.
One of the few exceptions to the rule was the "Door of the 21st Century" tour last year. An amazing evening of music that obviously is "Classic" but presented in such a way as to make it fresh and exciting. Ray and Robbie were incredible.

Re: Whats the point in another tour...??
So I can see DC!!! Thanks to Rahul's glowing review I will go. I love DC and his music. I will admit that I even listen to the "1987" album....OK? DC is great, I am drawn in...I can not resist his charisma. And a killer voice doesn't hurt.
--- Well, I stood under your bedroom window
throwing up a brick.
No one came, I threw one more,
that really did the trick.

Re: Whats the point in another tour...??
With GH, DC is the only one in Purple family I have not seen on stage.
And I must say I'm divided : I'd like so much to hear and see him but his present musical orientation leaves me a little bit cold.
But I suppose it's worth it

Am I being stupid, or just missing something here. What is the point in Coverdale undertaking another tour with the same faceless musos as the last time, with no new product, no new anything. On the one hand he says he isn't interested in nostalgia (the reason he won't work with old band mates) yet all he's gonna do is go out and play Burn, Mistreated again etc etc. If that isn't nostalgia...er, what is? Also...when are Whitesnake fans gonna get any kind of product they can be proud of...did anyone see the last tour programme or the packaging used on the Best Of releases. Uuurgh.
Just curious here, ever seen David live ??
