Re: Unplugged
I don't see why not and Steve, Jon and Roger did an unplugged instrumental radio show a while back which was fairly good.
They could do an unplugged, but I don't think they'd be perfect for it.

Re: Unplugged
They could do an acoustic middle set like Led Zeppelin and Yes.
A setlist like this:
Silver Tongue
Strange Kind Of Woman
I Got Your Number
Knocking At Your Backdoor
The Well Dressed Guitar
Demon´s Eye
Woman From Tokyo
Perfect Strangers
---Acoustic Set---
The Aviator
Never A Word
When A Blind Man Cries
Anyone´s Daughter
Walk On
Our Lady
---End of Acoustic Set---
Lazy
Space Truckin´
Speed King
Smoke On The Water
---Encores---
House Of Pain
Black Night

Re: Unplugged
They could certainly do it but would it be any good?, probably not IMHO.
I think the whole "unplugged" thing is extremely gimmicky and pointless and I also think it's no coincidence that the unplugged songs that work best lean that way in the first place.

Re: Unplugged
I think that Paice dislikes "unplugged". I know he was fed up with the orchestra tour after a while. He wants to rock!

Re: Unplugged
There are some DP songs that would sound great as acoustic version and some songs that were played with acoustic guitar in the original verson would work anyway. The Aviator, Never a Word, Walk on and Anyone's Daughter would be great. Why not start Sometimes I feel like screaming with acoustic guitar and bass (as they did on the Purpendicular tour) at the end of the acoustic set and then change into "normal" playing during that song?

Re: Unplugged
They did an unplugged session on Rockline a few years ago. this was with Gillan. I remember it included Woman From Tokyo and Knocking at Your Back Door among others.

Re: Unplugged
I just found this on Gillan's website about the unplugged thing:
http://www.gillan.com/qa-66.html
It's the 3rd question down.

Re: Unplugged
I'll just say that on the old forum and for nearly 2 years on this one, I've long been an advocate for Deep Purple doing an acoustic/unplugged album or 'one off' live performance for an album release.
