The Greatest Band of 20th century pop music..
What can I say.. about ..DP
the first song I heard was 'Child in Time'
it was really movin'.. more than Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. latter was only enormous.
But the Purple's Child was Revolution.
It was 2years ago, when I was 18.. my musical experience before hear Deep Purple, is a crab. I think.
I will love DP, Forever

The greatest band? Bee Gees - no other option.

Re: The Greatest Band of 20th century pop music..
Actually a pretty tough question and one certain to inspire discussion/debate. First of all, I think people are gonna have different definitions as to what constitutes 'pop' music for them. To me, it simply means 'popular' music, which is what makes the question so difficult...
Based on what I consider 'pop' music to be, I have to agree that the BeeGees are certainly a solid choice, the fact that they aren't my choice notwithstanding...I guess I'm going to have to go with the bleedin' obvious choice - The Beatles.

If we're talking about strictly pop music, I say it's the Beach Boys.

Re: The Greatest Band of 20th century pop music..
The Beatles, for sure. Many other bands was great, but noone was even close. The second best could have been bands like ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Beach Boys, Animals, The Who, Cream, Queen, etc.
But the Beatles is and will remain #1 in the category "The Greatest Band of 20th century pop music". That's not an opinion, that's a fact!

To save my typing fingers...I will just agree with Atle. For everything The Beatles achieved and the legacy they left, They stand head and shoulders above every other band.

If I wanted 'facts', I'd sign up for uni. But I'm in the real world now, and 'opinion' matters most!
