Re: How good is Burn (the album)
Burn makes my top 3, I'd always loved when the band took a chance and/or shift in direction, witch my top 3 clearly reflects:
1. Fireball
2. Purpendicular
3. Burn

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
Listened to the album a while ago. It's even better than I remembered!
A detail that really caught my attention was Lordy's piano work in What's Going On Here.
RB never really reched the heights of his Mistreated end solo live - except maybe in the Rising tour rehersals.

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
Classic album with many great songs... sail away and MJTYL are the two faves on this one. But they are all very good!

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
My top Purple albums (at the moment) would be:
In Rock/ Machine Head
WDWTWA/ Burn/ Perfect Strangers
Purpendicular/ Abandon/ Fireball
Come Taste The Band
I think Burn is a brilliant album, and by far the best done by MKIII. Stormbringer is a weak album IMO.

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
As time passes, opinions may change.
Not in this case.
How good is Burn, the album ?
You know how it feels to love a piece of music so much it just hurts?
There I am, some 23-24 years after I heard it for the first time.

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
OP here. Opinions may change as noted above, and it's safe to say BURN is #4 for me, pretty firmly, but now Mistreated is my second favorite song on the album, where it used to be MJTYL.

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
I love Burn, always have. Burn, Sail Away, YFNO & Misteated are classic tracks and among some of my most listened to. To me, if they had put Coronarias Redig on the album and made A200 the b-side, the album would have been that much stronger. The remix of CR is all that much better.

Re: How good is Burn (the album)
Burn - superb
Might just - average
Lay Down - average
Sail away - very nice
You fool - superb
What's - average
Mistreated - great, but live much better
A 200 - great guitar, weak drumming
p.s.: Coronarias Redig wasn't recorded in Montreux. That has nothing to do with the Burn sessions. It was recorded later in Copenhagen, December 10th at the Rosenberg Recording Studio.
