LORDY OR DIE

There was one of the original things Purple brought to the live rock scene - Jon Lord often (not everytime) pleased the crowd in different countries with intro-fragments of some symptomatical tunes which belongs heartfully to them, f.i. clips from national anthems or notoric national songs, folklore, som´thin easy recognizable in the very places etc, me ole Czech little country included.
I´m interested if there was in USA or somewhere else besides Europe the same?
And Ritchie also often added to intros some bizzare echoes of classical tunes and others...

I think that Jon did it at 99% of his shows with Purples. Don is doing it tonight ( emoticon ) too (jeho Má vlast a reakce českýho publika = zážitek na celej život emoticon ). But about Ritchie - I don´t know.... Steve did his Guitar Parades, but Ritchie? I really don´t know - I never seen him really live.

Like 'Deutschland Uber Alles'...... in Austria!

Don often plays local tunes/anthems in his solo.

Actually it´s "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit". The first two verses and the title aren´t part of the hymn anymore since the end of World War II.

Anyway, although it´s known as the tune with the lyrics added by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben and the tune itself(String Quartett Nr. 77) was composed almost 50 before by Joseph Haydn and was then known as Kaiserhymne.

I had to add this as the title "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" is associated with the Third Reich(even if the text was written 100 years before) and therefore it´s forbidden these days(because of the nationalist content).
