What do we want from the new album?
Ok,
So on Bananas, we got a fresh sounding album which may or may not have gotten your thumbs up.
The song that I listen to most from Bananas is "Sun Goes Down." Yet it wasn't meant to be played on the road. I find this annoying and a waste of a good song.
This is what I want from a new Deep Purple album... a lot of songs similar to "Sun Goes Down", but these songs must be played live. The next album should be a darker, heavier album, but better produced than Abandon...
No more happy songs, no more ballads... I want a heavy sounding DP album! Who's with me? Hopefully DP!

Re: What do we want from the new album?
Yeah, I want a rockin, balls to the wall, heavy album! As rockin as Gillan can be these days I suppose. Bananas was a step in the right direction, but it was still too "light" for my tastes. Sun Goes Down is probably my favorite track on the album as well....aside from Doing it tonight, just because it's so funny

I wait before I say anything in that direction until someone called Tannoy(or maybe even less original "IAmNotTannoy" ) comes into the forum and asks us that.
It worked the last time, maybe it works this time, too...

Re: What do we want from the new album?
I want a fast heavy song to bang my head to.
A dark power ballad along the lines of Child In Time or Black Sabbath's ballads.
A good solid bluesy number somewhat like Razzle Dazzle and Walk On.
An instrumental jam between Steve, Don, Roger, and Paicey.
A rock anthem.
Finally end the album with a heavy-epic feeling song of a medium-fast tempo.
np: Cream - Tales Of Brave Ulysses

Re: What do we want from the new album?
Dunno, I quite liked Bananas as it was, a MASSIVE improvement over the dullfest that was Abandon, better production, better vocals, better everything really. I'd like the new album to move forwards from that taking on a looser, more jamming approach with some more extended soloing (both from Morse and Airey), perhaps in the style of Purpendicular.

Re: What do we want from the new album?
I like Bananas quite a lot, so I don't want big changes, but I would like to hear a long Deep Purple-song again, something like their live version of Fools, with heavy parts, but also slow parts and extended solos!

Good music that's to my taste(s).

Re: What do we want from the new album?
I want a gritty sounding record, with the organ waaay up in the mix. Each song should revolve around one or two "simple" ideas and they can jam over that.
As much as I love all of the Morse stuff, I find they've often gotten away from what makes a good rock song--a simple idea played loud, or should I say, a simple idea with the !@#$ kicked out of it.
A little less angular and a bit more bluesy. I really think the return of a raunchy organ (yeah, yeah...) would do wonders. And get Paice to play in the studio like he's been playing on stage!!

Re: What do we want from the new album?
I love Bananas alot and would maybe consider it my favourite album but I would like a good heavy rock album this time with maybe just the one slow song and the slow song even has to have a heavy part in it for the chorus. Looking forward to it anyway. I'm sure it will be good whether the songs are heavy rock or blues.

Re: What do we want from the new album?
.....No participation from Michael Bradford maybe a good start. I may have missed something but what really did he bring to the party? did he get he creative juices flowing like never before? I don't think so. )))'s is very good, but to me it lacks something, a real standout track like PS or SIFLS for example. Lots of good suggestions so far, just hope that they write better songs this time around. I don't mind if they are diverse such as NAW, but a collections of better songs, arrangements with one or two killer tracks (such as _¦_ )is what I want to hear.
