It seems that way these days, doesn't it? But, JLT will always be the most famous - and hopefully, last - "Squealer From Hackensack", I'll give him that. emoticon

To get back on course guys.................. this topic is supposed to be about the rather excellent vocal efforts of Doogie White rather than your unhappiness with previous Rainbow /DP singers.

Doogie White is clearly, from the postings here generally very well regarded which is just how it should be, the man is very talented and has a superb voice. The mp3 clip posted demonstrates anopther side of his ability and he certianly can sing. Also he's from Scotland so he must be a great guy as well!

Is he a good front man ?
I don't know.
What do his fans think ? Can he captivate an audience or is he dull and boring?

Yep, I was just going to apologize for my digression, BTN. emoticon
Anyway, pretty much total agreement from this stall regarding Doogie White...the only reason I can't rate him as the best of Rainbow's vocalists is due to the fact that a certain guy named Padavona or something held the post too.

WOW didn't know Doogie sang Jesus Christ Superstar!!!

IT'S GREAT!!

Doogie broadcast it on his Total Rock DJ-ing stint late last year. I recorded it from the web and Doogie kindly gave his permission for me to post it here for download. It's a tremendous version of one of Gillan's standout performances. Doogie's a brave man to attempt it, but he tackles it excellently.

I only used it because Linquito (Turner) hails from that New Jersey city...and it fit perfectly! emoticon
Seriously, I've no idea of it's meaning(s) either in English or German. So give - what's it mean in German?

I have never heard Doogie sing until about 2 hours ago. I got a copy of the Dusseldorf 09.10.1995 video a few weeks ago and just finished watching it.

Doogie is a great front man! He has a great voice. Covering so many famous singers is impossible! Yet he does it.

I have never heard Ariel before. He was AMAZING on that song. Then they followed it with one of the best versions of Perfect Strangers I have ever heard. Doogie gives Gillan a run for his money on this song! (And not just because Doogie actually knows the words. <g>)

They end with Burn (always good to hear) and Smoke On The Water. The organ in Burn is not as good as it could be though. I expected more after that performance in PS.

Doogie is an octave higher than Dio (who isn't?) which makes the songs sound different. But he nails the tunes. He was actually higher than Coerdale on Burn too. Maybe he should get some marbles to slur the words a bit in Burn. <g>

Excellent first impression. If you love Blackmore you should get this show. Candace sings a bit in the background and gets a minute of air time.
