Re: Doogie White Appreciation Society
Actually I think Doogie is the least good of the Rainbow singers, by all means with more preasure on 'good' than 'least. Doogie proved a brilliant singer in Rainbow, handled all old material, came up with great new material and was a talented improviser. Still is, I'm sure, but I'm only talking Rainbow here.
I can't help that I find all Rainbow singers totally brilliant, and the competition is just a bit too hard for me to rank Doogie on top. But I have nothing but great respect for this highly talented performer!

Can't say that I agree.
Since it's no longer allowed to be negative regarding JLT, I just rest my case.
Doogie is also better than Bonnet.

You're playing on the edge of banning here, don't you?

To quote Rahul on the Respect for JLT thread : "And I wouldn't censor anyone expressing a dislike towards an artist."
Of course negative comments are allowed (re JLT and any other Purple family member). I've given my opinion on JLT's stage performance abilities many times before - i.e. he's a poor frontman. Continual repetitive derogatory comments about his personal characteristics were getting rather wearing.

That he certainly was - a poor front man. Also a second rate vocalist, at best. An average songwriter, and a legend in his own mind. In my opinion, hardly a "superstar" or "legend". In the context of rock history + legacy, in particular Deep Purple's and by extansion, Rainbow's - not a necessity - just an accessory.

Re: Doogie White Appreciation Society
Oh, that's still "bashing" - just in what's apparently a more "politically correct" way.

Re: Doogie White Appreciation Society
Like giving someone a pat is a politically correct form of punshing him, or what?
