Re: No no no live
Wasn't this one the only time they played it live?

Re: No no no live
There is a 12-minute version on the Autumn of 71 boot. Very good sound quality and performance. Good work from all concerned, both Lord and Blackmore take extended lead breaks. It must be at least 15 years since I listened to this, but it sounds very powerful and appeared to work very well live.

Re: No no no live
It seems that I have a second live version. This time tacked on to the end of the Mary Lose Gear in Fire bootleg. Why this is and what the source for No, No, No is I have no idea, obviously not the above-mentioned 1973 show. Another strong version though, this time clocking it at only 9 minutes.

Re: No no no live
There's at least 7 others recorded version than this video. It's on all recordings from the autumn 71 UK tours (including the best of them, Bournemouth, mentioned earlier) and several recordings from Europe/UK February 72, the last one being Dagenham, on 19/2. The 71 versions are generally longer and better IMHO...

Re: No no no live
Dirk's DP gig list
Dirk’s excellent web site details gig location and dates and some (but not all) set lists.
In addition to the German TV version they definitely played No No No at the following;
Portsmouth 13th Sept 1971
Leicester 19th Sept 1971
Bournemouth 29th Sept 1971
Bristol 30th Sept 1971
Sheffield 5th Oct 1971
They then went to the USA for a tour (when Gillan got hepatitis) and don’t appear to have played it
Machine Head was then recorded and they did another USA tour where there is no evidence they played it before returning for UK & European gigs
No No No was definitely played at the following;
Boblingen 10th February 1972
Essen 12th February 1972
Dagenham 19th February 1972
By March (See Copenhagen DVD gig) they were promoting the Machine Tracks so it wasn’t played after this date.
Given that tour set lists didn’t vary during this era (other than the encores) I think it’s likely they played it for the whole of the UK autumn 1971 tour (13 gigs) and the Spring UK & Europe gigs up to Dagenham (the following night they played Wolverhampton and the bootleg for this which is complete doesn’t include it) 7 gigs in total.
So best guess is that it was played about 20 times

It's always good to be corrected by someone who really knows better. Because you never tell the "facts" you were sure about again ...
