Favourite Purple guitarist other than Blackmore?
Hi all,
Interested to see how this goes, if it is close between Bolin or Morse or if one is way ahead.
Also, let us know which of these Purple guitarists you have seen live.

Bolin for me, even though I prefer PURPENDICULAR to COME TASTE THE BAND by a little bit. I just prefer Bolin when he was playing well and his work outside of Purple is also stronger to me, though I do love the Dixie Dregs. Bolin was almost as amazing as Blackmore when he was on fire.
Of these choices, I have seen both Morse and Satriani live.

Steve Morse but I think all guitarists in DP were great. It's a shame Bolin died so soon as I don't think he had reached his full potential yet.

Both inside and outside Purple, my preference goes for Steve Morse. Purpendicular and Now What are high up there in my Purple album rankings, and so are the early 90's SMB albums and Flying Colors albums in the non purple rankings !
I must add that I do dig Teaser, and enjoy Simon's solo career (I've seen him twice with his own band, plus many times with Don's band). Not a big fan of Satriani though (outside Purple, the tours he did were just wonderful, especially considering the lack of preparation!).

Satriani. Like Turner, he came in at a critical time. Too bad that he wasn't long-term.
