Ah! At this point, I'd say it is!
To me Permanent Waves it's a perfect album and sometimes I think it's my favorite Rush album. They showed that they could be prog, complex, adventurous, majestic (Jacob's ladder), intimate and also lighthearted (the reggae part in Spirit of the radio) without the 20 minutes suites like 2112 or Hemispheres: 5 minutes prog! And with Natural Science they showed that they could still indulge and go full on prog when they wanted. All this without even considering the lyrics...some of the best heard in rock music, if you ask me. What an album!

OK I was Wrong! After putting on Permanent waves during my work out it finally clicked in and now I can't get enough of this band. I am now in process of buying one or two Rush CD's a month. I have to say that Hemispheres is, at this time, my favorite Rush CD. It's always nice when you find a new band to enjoy!!

That's great to hear doggone! You have a massive catalogue of albums to explore now! In my opinion, they never released a bad album but some of the later ones are "less amazing" than others. If asked, I'd rank them in this order:

Same here's, I'm a big big fan of Clockwork Angels, and I also like Snakes & Arrows quite a lot. To me the lower point is Test For Echo, followed by Vapor Trails...
Oh and I'd also rank Roll the Bones much much higher, for Dreamline, Bravado, Ghost of a Chance... And I also love Counterparts, especially Animate and Leave That Thing Alone (stunning instrumental!!).
What a band !! My only disappointment, and they have nothing to do with it, is that I discovered them a few month after the Clockwork Angels European tour, and they didn't tour in Europe with R40, so I never got to see them live...

I have all the albums up to and including Signals. My favorite is Hemispheres. Least favorite Signals. I read reviews saying that Caress of Steel is their worst album but I think it's excellent!!
