Rush 2112
I remember when the album came out a friend put it on and had me listen to it. He thought it was a GREAT Album but I found it very boring. Recently I decided to get the CD and see if maybe I was wrong! I wasn't. It's still boring as heck IMHO. Any opinions? Thanks!

Re: Rush 2112
Perhaps buoyed by seeing the famous "side 1" portion live, i absolutely love it. It's quite an experience. An all time live experience, actually.
Bangkok is decent enough. I could give it, i could take it.
The last few tunes, I rarely listen to.
But "side 1," ... special indeed.

Absolutely great album, in my opinion. Maybe not their absolute best, (that title goes to Farewell to kings, Hemispheres or Moving pictures) but quite close. How can somebody find it boring? It's an album full of amazing ideas, solutions, atmospheres.

Re: Rush 2112
I enjoy the album, and find it to be their first true classic where all the elements come together. It can't touch HEMISPHERES, but there is not a weak song on it to my ears. I love Lee's wailing vocals and everyone plays with serious power, precision, and dynamics. These elements began disappearing beginning with SIGNALS, but 2112 is prime Rush for sure. I still find it funny though when the man decides to rock out for the Priests in the title track.

Re: Rush 2112
My fav Rush album probably because it was the first one I heard and the one every subsequent album had to measure up against. One of the few albums I can happily listen start to finish without skipping a track.
In fact I think it's time...
--- And another thing I won't discuss is RRRRRRRRRapture...
...It always causes fights!

Re: Rush 2112
I bought their greatest hits CD a few weeks ago and I have to say that, aside from a few songs, I find them boring.

Wow! Maybe a greatest hits is not the ideal solution to approach them, as they've always been an album band (and they never had that many proper "hits"). To enjoy the variety of their music, I'd suggest you try "Permanent Waves" and "Power windows". If nothing touches you, then you can give up on them.

Re: Rush 2112
Bought Permanent Waves. It's safe to say I will never be a fan of this band.
