Buying Rainbow Rising on the day it came out!

Fascinating recollections from super Ritchie fan and collector Phil Aston, remembering buying Rising in 1976, listening to it then and now and then going to see the band in September. Not your typical superficial review. I got chills as he was speaking about Stargazer. Love the cordial and friendly tone he has, like you were chatting to him in a pub. (And if you want to know how come his tour programme is signed by Robert Plant, there's a separate topic here from a couple of years ago).

I also bought it on the day of release. And it blew me away. I played it so much that I had to buy it a second and a third time as lp. I still have all copies.

Exactly! Who needs hundreds of people telling you how great that album is? We already know that. I need to feel the emotions behind it and Phil managed to do that. I also revisited it, at the same time looking at the great book by Jerry Bloom "In the shadow of the wizard" about 1975/76 Rainbow.
