Don Airey (Band)
Is it only me, who has the impression that Don Airey's last solo albums are more "purplish" (If you think of seventies-Purple) than Deep Purple's albums? And: I saw Don twice with his own band: The concerts are as good as a Deep Purple concert. But instead of some thousands there are only some hundreds of people listening (in my case 200, because the venue wasn't bigger).

Re: Don Airey (Band)
I tend to agree, very melodic heavy rock a la purple. Fact is Don can't offer material like this to DP because a) they want to keep jamming as their way of composing; b) Gillan couldn't sing songs like those anymore so they have to keep this in mind. This being said, I like Don's recent albums but I don't particularly like his singer (in the studio, anyway). McBride is a very natural and obvious choice for them at this point: he's very skilled, knows the repertoire and he also probably has a warmer guitar tone than Steve.
