Re: Your Most Important DP Album
I just listened to MIE a few days ago. Love it! I wish they would eventually release the entire Saarbrucken show.

MIJ by a length for me but I loved MIE too.
I've always felt MK3 was the instrumental peak for the band as Jon,Ritchie and Paicey were at the absolute peak of their powers IMHO and GH is a better bass player than RG IMHO( not that RG isn't good)

Re: Your Most Important DP Album
For me, the highlight of MKIII live was YFNO. I don't think any other line up could do this song justice.

Purpendicular
Probably the key reason why DP are still a force. All roads lead back to this important statement.

Re: Your Most Important DP Album
My first DP album was 24 carat Purple. A great intro. Of course MIJ is the best - not just by Purple but the best Live album ever.
As good as MIE is I prefer Live In Paris. Better mix and continuity.
And every first album each line up did is ground breaking; Shades, In Rock, Burn, CTTB, PS, (let's forget S&M), BRO, Purpendicular & Now What (first with BE)

Re: Your Most Important DP Album
In Rock! I heard one song from that album - I think it was "Hard lovin' man" - on the radio (BFBS the german radio station for british soldiers) and couldn't believe my ears. I was 14 years old and immediatly regretted that I would have to die one day and will not be able to hear this kind of music anymore. Especially Jon's hammond made me mad. Ever since then Deep Purple are my favourite band, no matter who plays the guitar. Important are the keyboards. And thanks god, Don equals Jon qualitywise.

Made in Europe is just about as good as MIJ to me, easier to listen too. Totally agree!

Absolutely. Made even better with the anniversary edition. Great stuff.

Re: Your Most Important DP Album
I left the live albums off. Perhaps another thread with most important or favorite live albums.
