Restless Heart Box set

Announced but I'm under whelmed by the content. Do I need another evolutions disc? err..No. Sticking with a copy of the single disc re-mix

Here’s All in the Name of Love.

I always felt that the production on Restless Heart was kinda dated…and there was a ton of reverb on Carmassi’s drums. I like the remix.

I love the remix and it's nice to have the original album remastered as well. The rough recordings called 'Dancing on the Titanic' are interesting but not something I think I'm ever likely to play again- there are some frankly awful vocals on these rough recordings whenever DC tries to get out of his lower range. Haven't had the chance to listen to the Evolutions yet. The DVD is a mixed bag- mostly 'fan videos' made up of clips from that era. It would have been nice to have some of the live material from the tour as there were at least 3 gigs professionally filmed. So, all in all it's a slightly rocky road with thumbs up for the remix and the original album, but the rest is probably dispensable.

I love the remix... makes it a better album. All the other stuff is interesting and its nice to have but not essential. A shame we didn't get a full live show with the package. Restless Heart is a great album and this remix is really good.

If memory serves that tour was one of the worst as far as DC’s vocals. He sounded extremely hoarse as I recall. Could be why we don’t hear live material in this set.

I remember when I first heard the album how scratchy DC's vocals had become -for example; Stay With Me, Can't Go On, Crying . It was first evident on Coverdale Page but by Restless Heart I think he'd lost the ability to power up in the effortless way he'd been able to do on, for example, Slide It In. I think he buggered himself screaming himself senseless on the Slip Of The Tongue tour and has never truly been the same since.

As I remember DC came back in better vocal shape in 2003. 1997 was a particularly bad year for whatever reason. I think that pro shot video from Russia was not flattering at all. Best part of that tour was the “requests” he was taking between songs
