Re: London 2002 & Wollongong 2001
I respectfully disagree only because it was Jon's last full show. (and because I am one greedy individual when it comes to anything live when Jon was in Purple )

I've pre-ordered it and will wait to see what it sounds like before passing judgement. The YouTube fan footage of Smoke from that show has IG in good voice IMO.

London 2002 may be a historical moment, but this show should not be officially released. IG really had the flu and could hardly speak. After they had to cancel the rest of the tour.
Like Live Encounters (Katowice 1996) someone should prohibit the release!
It seems like they always release a show where IG is in bad shape. Been doing this since the Paris show during the PS tour. There have been good shows over the years where IG does a decent job, but they continue to release shows where he is pretty crappy. Find the good shows and release them. It shouldn't be too hard.

Oh yes that's right...
just look at his recent solo release from Moscow 2016... he was fantastic on that tour, just listen to the first show in sofia for example but when they filmed it he had a pretty bad cold.

The London gig is also statistically relevant as it sees the first official release that I'm aware of Up the wall, which later was reworked as I got your number.

never paid any attention to that tour, so my only point of reference is the official release(s)
I think he sounds good on the blu ray, all things considered...same goes for the cd/stream
haven't listened to the vinyl yet

to be fair, there are plenty to pick from where he sounds great. all eras.
Live Encounters was maybe out of their hands, and a case where someone else had the rights for release. Certainly sub bar in terms of audio and video quality...
Paris 85 was never official was it?

Re: London 2002 & Wollongong 2001
NEC 2002 is brilliant too...
nevertheless, he seems to have bad luck considering the amount of releases where he isn't up to par compared to the amount of concerts where he in fact is.

It'll contain the first official live version of the Aviator - which i'm looking forward to.

IG must have the worst immune system in the history of man. The fact that he has been singing himself hoarse since the 70's hasn't done him any favors. The excessive drinking certainly contributed to his vocal decline. Thankfully, he has slowed his drinking to a more moderate amount. When he chugs along in his normal range, he sounds fine. When he tries to amp it up, he gets all snotty and his voice even disappears when he tries to go too high. No real power left. Hughes, Mogg, Meine, Rodgers and others still sound real good at the same age. The lesson is to take care of what you have, because it is almost impossible to get back once it is gone.
