Roger/Ritchie

Of all the Bass Players RB has played with, I have to say the Roger was the one that worked best with RB. Any Thoughts?

I agree. Ritchie knew that Roger brought so much more to the table than just being a bass player: songwriting, arrangements, production, album artwork, etc. Roger is an artist on so many levels.

As well as being someone they could wheel out to the press to say polite PR things, such as 'Nobody's Perfect' was a great representation of the band, akin to Made in Japan; or that 'Slaves and Masters' was such a 'live in the studio' record that captured the band well. Nice guy, good contributor, maybe should have been a bit more demanding of others along the way.

In my opinion Roger was far in the background. I can respect other opinions like Blackmore, Lord & Paice were such dominant characters, so they didn‘t need a superb player like John Gustafson.
I preferred Glenn‘s distinctive playing (DID NOT DIG HIS VOCALS)! Esp. on You fool no one, Made in Europe.
