WDWTWA, HOBL, and TBRO

When it comes to the MKII albums, they are usually rated as the bottom 3 yet, there is not one track that I skip on any of them. I think it says a lot for this band that even, when not at their best, they are still better than most.

Only IN ROCK, FIREBALL, and PURPENDICULAR rate higher than WDWTWA for me. I love it as much as MACHINE HEAD and BURN. HOUSE and BATTLE are also great albums. The only song I don't like from BATTLE is "One Man's Meat". So yes, all stand up very well after all these years to my ears.

Largely agree. It seems as though the bands' negative attitude to these records has prevented some very strong material from being included in the live show. The Morse era could easily have performed such gems as Smooth Dancer, Bad Attitude, The Spanish Archer, or Solitaire, to name but a few.

I rate HOBL higher than PS. No fan of Mitzi Dupree, though. WDWTWA is better than Burn, Stormbringer and CTTB. TBRO is better than those three, also. Gillan sounds pretty good on One Man's Meat. Three real good albums.

i tend to agree but theres no way that SM is doing justice to The Spanish Archer thats pure Blackmore.Steve brilliant as he is doesnt have that fire.

Well, I would back him on this one. Would be nice to have evidence to debate, however.

Always loved WDWTWA, even more than Machine Head. To me the songs on MH came to life when played live. Production wise WDWTWA is years ahead of MH.
THOBL is great also, only the production is below par.
TBRO is still one of the albums I like less. Some great songs, but a lot of mediocre ones. Production wise also vers mediocre.

"Our Lady" off WDWTWA is one of my favorite DP songs. Gillan is Great on this one. I wonder what it would sound like performed with a Choir?
