The LOVE songs

I hummed and hah-ed for ages before purchasing as a way of relieving lock down boredom.

And I'm glad I did but also blooming annoyed.

So having bought the Slip of The Tongue box set what do I read - there's another enhanced re-mix something or other on it's way. Really?!?! I hate the original mix and had hoped the box set would rectify that but the "monitor mixes" whilst sounding better had no guitar solos. Now we're going to get what should have be done in the first place and I've effectively spaffed a load of cash on a box of crap. Rant over.

Now the good bit. The bonus tracks are excellent and worth the purchase price. All out takes from the Into The Light album -surely DC's post UK Whitesnake's zenith. It was a very reflective album which has grown on me over the years. All 3 tracks would (and will judging form the liner notes -box set coming) have sat well on the original album. With All Of My Heart's almost country but great singing as he's not trying to push his lungs out through his throat, Yours For The Asking is really outside the norm for DC - it's got a bit of a Beatles feel to it- but the whole things got a real groove (Ahem-man). I've always rated Denny Carmassi and he lays back here but really swings -heaven knows what a butchers job TA would've done here. Let's Talk It Over is a sought of laid back epic. Great singing again and clocks in at over 7 minutes. Great stuff.

So check it out.

Re: The LOVE songs

All in all, not considering it's mainly a compilation, this is the best album David has released since Restless heart/Into the light, for me. "Let's talk it over" is a super epic slow soul highlight! And together with the other "new" songs (Always the same, Yours for the taking, With all of my heart) forms half of a great album. Would be great to see him produce a whole album in this vein...
