Re: WHOOSH! review
I have a question about Whoosh!. I'm ordering it on vinyl and I see it in one and two LP versions. Same amount of songs, nothing extra. I would think that the two LP version would sound somewhat better just because it wouldn't be as 'compressed' as the single LP. The money is about the same. I would like to hear opinions on each one from those who have them. There is also a couple of box sets with the lp and dvd or the cd. Is the DVD worth it or should I just get the cd for my car? Thanks.

Re: WHOOSH! review
I have the 2 LP and DVD set. It has Glover and Ezrin talking and playing bits from the album and is interesting. It also has the entire 2017 Hell Fest show on it which was released in CD a few years ago. I haven't listened to the Vinyl yet, just the CD version of Whoosh.

Re:
My brother (also a DP fan since the early 70's) is enjoying the new album as well. Of the three Bob Ezrin produced albums, I've noticed he's really taken to Whoosh. Also, a couple of my friends who are also music buddies are impressed by the current songs, which for them, is rare when it comes to current Purple.
Perhaps this album is a slightly more user friendly Purple album? Whatever it is, people are enjoying it.

Re: WHOOSH! review
its fallen of my playlist the last couple of weeks ,it is a decent enough album with a couple of tracks i really like but im still an old rocker at heart and i generally like my rock a bit harder than MK Morse DP depending on mood of course .
Im listening to a lot of Iron Maiden just now( i generally do listen to a lot of Maiden ) , they are much more like the DP i liked in that they play hard and heavy but are still very melodic too.Ive also been listening to Rainbows Straight between the Eyes for the first time in a while ,Blackmores soloing is truly awesome on this album.Ritchie really did play solos that suited the songs much more than any other guitarist i know of?

I agree with you about Steve Morse, a virtuoso guitarist but "not" built for hard rock and heavy metal, Tommy Bolin can rock harder than him in my opinion. In my very humble opinion Deep Purple can "never" make a decent Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album as long as Steve Morse is the "only" guitarist, you have to add a co-guitarist Michael Schenker will duel him with just one album and then he will leave but....
That album will be the Deep Purple heavy rock album that you are waiting for lightintheblack0!

Me too I'm buying and listening more to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Megadeth. I just ordered the Judas Priest CD Box Set, but what the what I learned that it does not include the Ripper Owens' JUGULATOR and DEMOLITION, thats the downside of that CD box.
Anyway I like WHOOSH! not as a hard rock album, something like a Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, etc., 😁
I bought the album 5x in vinyl and 2x in CD, 7 copies. 😁

I would love Mad Michael in DP but on his own, not necessarily alongside SM ,although it might work ? Alas thats not going to happen
Would have been very interesting if Schenker had replaced Blackers when he left

Re: WHOOSH! review
Intersting? For sure! Better? Not necessarily, I think. For two reasons: first, back in 1993 Schenker was not in a very healthy condition and it would have been a very frail and delicate situation. Luckily, nowadays he's in a much better form. Secondly, Schenker is mainly a heavy rock guitarist and this means that in a few years time and with Gillan vocal strength diminishing it would have been very difficult to produce material adapt to his aging strengths. This being said, I vastly prefer Schenker to Morse's playing but maybe with Steve they got the right guy to lead them towards a new approach to their music.

I see the Ripper era as a low point in Priests history, kinda like but not as bad as the Blaze Bayley era of Maiden ,though he did sing the classic Priest way better than Blaze sang classic Maiden.
WTF was Steve Harris thinking about bringing in Blaze to replace Bruce?.
To be fair the albums had a few great tracks(which were much better with Bruce singing them eg The Clansman and Sign Of The Cross) but were generally kinda dark and dull.It was always going to be a struggle to replace one of rocks all time great frontmen but Blaze live was horrendous !! he had the look and stage presence of Donkey Kong
But yes i agree Whoosh is a fine album but not hard rock.Preists recent Firepower album shows that old guys can still rock hard at least in the studio ,its brilliant
