RESTLESS HEART 2020

Agreed, Restless Heart sounds pretty good to me as well. I really, really hope we'll see the whole album re-released (in it's remixed form) before too long.

Re: The ROCK Album

Apparently it features new guitar from Joel... I wonder what else has been added? Some interesting sounds in the mid section.

Re: The ROCK Album

This is one of the albums which Derek Sherinian has recorded new keyboard parts for and i thought I also heard female backing vocalists towards the end. This genuinely does sound fresh to me and probably a slight improvement on the original version. I'm also relatively encouraged that The Rock album will feature 2 of the non-album tracks recorded during the Restless Heart sessions. Both good tracks which will hopefully also benefit from a remix.

Whereas Restless Heart sounds fresh, the jury's out on the remix of Give Me All Your Love however, which is now on Apple Music (and therefore probably Spotify as well). I think I'm just getting to the stage where I've heard certain songs on the 1987 album too many times now

Hiring new musicians to add something to the old songs and then sell the product? Also, making remixes? If David is out of money, than ok. Otherway, they should leave those tunes as they are, authentic, liking them or not. If they want to remake them kind of The Purple album, I find it legitime, even not necessary.. But this...I just don't get it.

i get what your saying but at the end of the day those songs are his life's work, if he wants to tamper with them and attempt to improve them then why not?

Yes, ofcourse, he's entitled to do whatever he wants to do, I agree. I just wanted to say that it's waste of time, in my opinion. I would prefere to see some new tunes or the old ones remade by the band. In few years, we will all be able to do our own mix of the albums anyway, legally (tools provided with some deluxe anniversary edition) or just for fun on our own PC (wich is possible even now to some extent, I suppose).

Re: The ROCK Album

I understand why DC might want to embellish or add new parts to Restless Heart. It was never released in the US and was probably not a big seller all round in comparison to many WS albums over the years. Therefore, many people will never have heard it before so why not polish it up a little.

The 1987 tracks however have already been remastered twice (at least) and there were remixed versions of the best known tracks on the 1987 box set a couple of years ago. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing some of these songs, regardless of what's been done to them. However, I suppose DC must (understandably) think that if he's to sell a WS compilation album, it needs to feature sings from his best known record.
