Bananas

Haven't listened to this in a very long time. It was the first CD released after Jon left DP and, being a big JL fan, I never really gave Bananas a chance. After hearing the version of Razzle Dazzle on the recent Gillan live CD, I decided to pop this on and it is much much better than I remember. I even like Razzle Dazzle! To my mind, not a bad track on it and it is much better than ROTD.

Re: Bananas

It think that Bananas and Rapture are both fine albums. On par and probably even better than Purpendicular and definitely better than Abandon. Goofy album covers aside, they were a nice progression from the earlier Morse albums.

Re: Bananas

Purpendicular is my favorite Morse album and I like Abandon a lot. Actually we have gotten some good music from the Morse years.

Re: Bananas

BANANAS has some great songs, but that flat and lackluster production damages it somewhat. The power and energy is sucked right out of it. I still think I prefer it to all the albums that have come after it though. It definitely stomps ROTD to my ears. But PURPENDICULAR towers above all the albums that came after it, and many before it in my opinion as well.

Re: Bananas

Sun goes down is a forgotten classic, to me. With a punchier production it could have been a majestic highlight. Pity it was never played live.
