WHAT NEXT FOR DAVID COVERDALE?
I have no idea what his plans are for the short to medium term. In my head I think he will continue with the current form of Whitesnake until he can't but I wish he would consider his options. Flesh and Blood is a good studio album, better than expected in my opinion and it would be a good way to end Whitesnake in its current form.
So, the options as I see them...
1. Continue Whitesnake as it is until it is no longer viable...
2. Strip Whitesnake down into a blues/acoustic project and invite past members to participate. A sort of "Starkers" with more instrumentation and a degree of electrification.
3. Do a solo album with a mix of guest players...
4. Record a proper DC blues album...
5. Stop after this tour and finally retire...
Although the voice is what it is I think he can still create and he can still do certain material very well. He should play to his strengths but somehow I don't think he will.

Re:
It's a bit like reading tea leaves, to be honest, but I guess all of us have our wishes for the final chapter of David's career.
The five alternatives you came up with are spot on. I would of course love him to do a solo album but I guess number 1 is the most likely option because that's where the money is. Don't get me wrong. I don't think it's about money for DC, not anymore. Nevertheless, I'm sure he thinks of his current musical whereabouts primarily as a business venture because it gives him and his family security and stability. Why should he get rid of all that?
I don't think he will stop after this tour. My guess is he will continue to tour over the next couple of years in support of Flesh & Blood, then he will probably do more Greatest Hits tours.
More special editions of old albums are likely to be released in the next couple of years. As for a new studio album, I think he would rather stick to Hoekstra and Beach and simply do another album with them as Whitesnake. It's the best thing for him. I can't imagine him leaving all that to do a solo album with other musicians.

Re: WHAT NEXT FOR DAVID COVERDALE?
Well, we know there is going to be another boxset, this time for the SOTT album. Beyond that however, I'm not sure how much scope there is for special editions of old albums. Would Universal even entertain deluxe box set editions of the early WS albums, given that they were not successful stateside? And is there enough additional material for there to be box sets of these old albums?
I think he'll continue to tour the new album into mid- 2020 and once that's done he will be reaching a natural crossroads in his career.

I think Restless Heart and Into the Light remasters are on their way. At least he bought those from EMI some years ago

I delivered the memorabilia for the last three box sets. The only unreleased one I was asked for scans til now is Slip Of The Tongue...

Re: WHAT NEXT FOR DAVID COVERDALE?
he's finished on a high with Flesh and blood, I'd leave it at that, with the odd one off show if he feels up to it.
