Holy cow that's poor. Is Aldridge drumming or re-arranging heavy furntiure?
I think it's him carrying heavy furniture downstairs and tripping...

Re: Osaka 2016
I would like a change in direction, in the first place. It's been 14 years from new start now.
I'm just anxious if it is too late for David's voice even for lower key arangement. Maybe a massive noise performance is his only solution. His 2016 state of voice doesn't give much hope. But, who knows, 2003 was vocally better than 1997, 2013 than 2011 and 2015 far better than all after 2008.

Re:
I couldn't get through the first song - was it Bad Voice or Bad Boys?! Then in skipping through I seemed to land on equally as poor sounds. In a car crash kind of way I enjoyed it, as I've accepted Sir David is where he is these days. Still love his music but a shame to hear it but it is what it is.
I actually listened to this after listening to Manic Eden from 1994 for the first time which has Tommy, Rudy & Adrian. Not a fan of Tommy's but he didn't sound bad on that, a listenable album. But on here he sounds horrendous!

Re: Osaka 2016
I remember years back in an interview he mentioned that he'd keep singing and hitting notes that only dogs can hear. We would be so lucky if that were the case on these recordings. It's unfortunate for what we all can hear.

Re:
Age has caught up with ALL of the DP family to some extent (GH apart it seems??)No shame in that really, and its especially hard for vocalists whose instrument is of course more prone to ageing .If were all being honest here then both messrs Gillan and DC have been past it for MANY years.Time to call it a day methinks.??Change of direction?not sure DC has anything more to say??I for one am not interested in another acoustic project i thought Starkers was bloody awful.Rockers should rock and if they cant anymore then they should retire IMHO

I take a different view.
When I listen to David's recent version of Trouble or his take on Private Number (both recent vocals) then for me that's what he should be doing. It's not balls to the wall rock but its somewhat closer to his roots. Singing that stuff with an older voice can bring an added dimension, trying to sing the 80's stuff with an older voice doesn't really work.
Physically he looks good for his age. To me he sounds like his vocal chords are hardening (something we all face as we age) but there are even specialist treatments for this if he wants to go down that route.
I don't think they are past it but they need to modify and there's no shame in that. Apart from Glenn of course and I'm getting increasingly convinced he's just a hologram created to taunt the other members of DP.

It's not only the voice that is ageing. It was worn out years ago for both IG and DC. A guitarist can buy a new guitar, a vocalist can't buy new vocal chords. And IG and DC were brutal to their vocal chords. Blackmore smashed cheap guitars back then, not his favourites, IG and DC smashed their only instruments.
It must be ego, and maybe financials that keeps them going. But as long as someone is willing to pay, I don't see a reason as to why they should stop.

When i said past it i meant as far as being great hard rock vocalists .Both can still hold a tune to a certain extent when not pushing it and yes a change of direction would suit both, Gillans recent solo OETM was a very decent effort where he sang within himself and I reckon he could perhaps still pull that of live ?Question is would he sell enough tickets to make it worthwhile?Same goes for DC he probably could do something different but would it sell tickets?Personally i wouldn't be that interested in paying for either.

I suppose what keeps them going is the fact that they have never really done anything else for the last 50 years, apart from Gillans failed business ventures in the 70s, and of course they probably still enjoy it, i wouldn't think either is short of money and actually NEEDS to do it anymore?
