Resonate
Well I am very pleasantly surprised. Very well done by the Pensioner Hughes. He is sounding good, as are the band. Nice to hear someone like Doley playing with Glenn and being heard in the Mix.
Four or five crackers in there for me, and I'll enjoy rotating this on the way to work for the next few days.
Anyone else got it, and got any views?

Re: Resonate
Took about 5 spins for me to click but now I'm loving it. And basically no track I would want to skip, which makes it a very solid album indeed. Doley is the unsung hero on the album, his colouring work really adding a lot. But one also has to mention Glenn's singing (and bass playing). To be able to sing like that at 65 is nothing short of incredible and therefore I feel he deserves the support every time he puts out a new album. A shame the tour got cancelled.
One slight gripe I have about the album is the way the production sounds "overheated". Noticeable when you listen on headphones.
But I didn't pay as much attention to it when listening in the car, so not a huge problem.

Re:
Should receive my copy tomorrow, hopefully. I'll let you know but so far I really enjoyed 3 of the four cuts released.
To kill the wait, I'm revisiting "Soul mover", a great album!

Re: Resonate
I've given the album a few plays now and it's a pretty solid album. Glenn is singing incredibly well for a man his age- I don't detect any obvious deterioration in his vocals or range which is remarkable. He also manages, on the whole, to reign in the vocal histrionics- or at least to limit them!
The keyboards on the album are fabulous- some brilliant Hammond playing. For me, there are 3 songs (Flow, How Long, Stumble & Go) which don't hit the mark. All other songs sound great.

Agree, same here! Solid album, probably the best sounding of his solo career. 8 great songs out of 11, only I'd say My town, God of money and Stumble & go didn't impress me like the rest did. Lachy Doley on keyboards is amazing, very tasteful, never overplaying and with a fabulous hammond sound.
I didn't expect to get Gary Moore's Nothing's the same as a bonus song at the end: a nice and moving touch, good version.

Re:
Shows how personal music is! My Town & How Long are superb to my ears. This album is getting better and better the more I listen to it. Great running order too; Let is shine is a bit weak but a bit of a breather in noise is needed after those first 3 tunes!
An inspired album by all concerned.

Re:
Easily the best DP family album in the last 10 years or so and one of Glenn's best solo albums is my verdict. Personally, I'd rather see him continue recording and touring with this band than BCC. To me, this album is closer to the essence of GH than his BCC work is, where he's more compromised.

Re: Resonate
Am starting to warm to How Long! However, Flow and Tumble & Go remain this album's low points for me. Overall though, this is pretty strong piece of work. It's certainly my equal favourite of his solo albums, along with Soul Mover.

Re:
Yes, it's really quickly growing on me as well. Very varied album: the first part heavier and groovier, with sometimes almost a King's X feel, especially in God of money. The second part maybe a bit more melodic with the killer trio of How long, When I fall and the "hendrixian" and exquisite Landmines.
