I'm bored to death of these orchestral experiments watering down rock music. Is there somebody here, I wonder, that actually enjoys these solutions? wouldn't it be definitely better without strings?

Good news. Some interesting cuts in the setlist (too many purple standards, anyway). The Airey Band is pretty solid. We'll see what they could make of Ian performance in Moscow as, as ptr wrote, it wasn't the greatest. Autobuy bluray and cd for me, just out of the love for the man. Even though, I like to dream these are the occasions where he could revisit more obscure material, Born Again, Gethsemane, Clear air turbulence, Five moons, etc.
The issue is, that we consider as "Purple standards" even a deep cuts. When A Blind Man Cries - deep cut, Rapture Of The Deep - deep cut, Demon´s Eye - deep cut, Anya - the same.

Sure, I'm talking from my own point of view while most of the time musicians think about a more general audience; even though I don't get why they tend to prefer satisfying them rather than die hard fans; and I think this is particularly true when releasing a product like a live album: who do they think is gonna a buy releases like this one, a casual fan? no way; a die hard? three copies! But maybe they already saw several times that we will buy them anyway...

Ouch.... What a sad coincidence! As far as I know they decided to film Moscow gig from IG´s tour with Don and orchestra - and you can guess.... cold struck again - but he fights hard, but it´s very noticable!

The cold that keeps on giving. Going on since the eighties. When will the excuses ever end?

It´s not excuse. In this particular case - it´s obvious fact. He struggles with cold on this Moscow show - he was fine during the rest of tour - including recorded Warsaw performance.
