During an interview on Serbian telly IG stated Pavarotti heard him sing smoke on the water 6 times , this is increasing by the year despite his untimely death... I think Pavarotti is attending concerts in the afterlife and is still amazed how Ian sings smoke differently every night

I think that number of performance is not important part of that statement - the point is not in exact number of performances.
But actually:
- soundcheck + performance in 2001
- soundcheck + 2 performances of that song done in 2003... it counts five.

Ouch.... What a sad coincidence!  As far as I know they decided to film Moscow gig from IG´s tour with Don and orchestra - and you can guess.... cold struck again - but he fights hard, but it´s very noticable!

Is there any sound engineer? It seems that instead of standard delay effect IG uses some sort of newly done sample for one moment of Perfect Strangers on this tour - it seems just interesting:

At 0:54 he starts to sing "shadows" and at 0:59 he ends "day" - and then normally delay effect works on, but not in this case, because following vocal melody is very different (very obvious betweeen 1:01 and 1:05)...
P.S: Start of the song is not good... it´s from Moscow gig stricken by his cold...

Good news. Some interesting cuts in the setlist (too many purple standards, anyway). The Airey Band is pretty solid. We'll see what they could make of Ian performance in Moscow as, as ptr wrote, it wasn't the greatest. Autobuy bluray and cd for me, just out of the love for the man. Even though, I like to dream these are the occasions where he could revisit more obscure material, Born Again, Gethsemane, Clear air turbulence, Five moons, etc.
