Jon Lord Interview 1983 French TV...
It’s interesting that a lot of these old interviews from foreign TV, and sometimes UK TV, that most of us will never have seen are now on YT etc. Saw one with Jon Lord recently on FB, from French TV early 1983 interspersed with the Here I go again video. It seems, he’s answering questions posed by fans outside the concert hall, and then relayed to him in the hotel. He states how happy the band are, stating while they’d got heavier, with CP, it had also got better in his view. adding they were having more fun than ever, and how well CH had fitted on bass.....ha-ha....guess he had to say that. Was even asked about the rumour of Jimmy Page joining, to which he replied he was a friend and he’d called him, both laughing about it. Interesting, as not a friendship widely known about and surprising given Plant, slogging DP and Coverdale all the time. I can try and locate the link if anyone interested.

Lord and Page played on some 60s sessions together didn't they, so the friendship maybe started from there. The Page in Whitesnake rumours came from nowhere and I remember thinking at the time how unlikely it would be. Whitesnake had released the Here I Go Again (original) single and hadn't publicised the line-up so left us to guess who was on it. Of course it was the same line-up bar backing vocals The guitar solo was a dead giveaway anyway - pure Marsden.

i recall late 1982 reading in sounds etc that WS were returning but the line up hadnt been finalised, wasnt there mention of schenker too? or DC joining MSG..? Anyhow, i remember Tom Russell on scotland's Radio Clyde asking Cozy and DC directly about Page...to which they both laughed....!

Ah, Sounds! What a great paper. Essential reading back then.
Yes, there was rumours of Schenker joining or DC joining "Marks and Spencer Group" as he called them.
I seem to remember Dave Gilmour's name being mentioned too, but of course that was as likely as Page!
The other one was Adrian Vandenberg....
[Edit]
and Gary Moore

Heh heh.....that’s right Marks and spencers group ! DC quick to mock of course, eg mimicking a dutch accent for Vandenberg as ‘Adj’. Then during CP about the violin bow episode, don’t recall Gilmour mentioned?
It’s all coming back.......’the holding pattern over heathrow’., ‘no passengers on HMS WS’.....’Micky regaining his hunger’....

Aye, the old WS ‘lost it’s hunger’....DC rather unkindly suggesting the first 4 Zeppelin LPs were ripped off old blues tunes .....ouch!
