Re: Classic Rock best of DC
As much as I don't particularly love The Purple Album, I still don't quite understand the level of criticism from CR about it. Was it really so much of a 'car crash of an idea' as they make out? As a fan, I was quite excited when I heard about it and saw the track-listing.

Re: Classic Rock best of DC
I enjoyed The Purple Album .The songs are timeless classics and some of the new takes on them are great. Its far from being DCs best album but its also far from being his worst.

I agree with all above mentioned. But I think, these CR articles aren't even worth commenting. They are simply not serious.

Re: Classic Rock best of DC
I love the album and started listening to it again. I took a break from it for a while because for the longest time it was all I listened to.

Re: Classic Rock best of DC
Im not sure what happened to the Classic Rock editorial board. It's like Daniel took over (kidding).
In all seriousness ranking albums is lazy but the editorial snipes at DC seem to be .... petty? I really want to know what happened between Coverdale and CR. Seems personal now.

Re: Classic Rock best of DC
Okay, I surely agree with putting The Purple Album at the end of the list. Are the arguments any serious? That's a whole different story. I'm also shocked with a high position of 1987, which is a turkey for me, but hey, that's only my opinion.
However, I am very positively surprised with so many good words about DC's early solo albums and Into The Light. I still think the latter is his most mature work. Sadly he wasn't able to continue this musical path.
