It was only a matter of time.

Classic Rock's web editorial policy has really gone to the dogs with their obsession of ranking everything in the known rock universe. Someone needs to take their website and Facebook presence by the scruff of the neck and find some new ideas.

Scanned through it, a reasonable overview in my view. interesting they pan CAGI, placing SAS above it, an assessment I don’t totally disagree with. SAS completely under rated!

Re:

Its this kind kind of writing/journalism I object to:

Good to be Bad...
"Aldrich co-wrote all the songs here but, as epitomised by the hard-rocking Best Years, it’s the sound of a man desperately failing to resurrect former glories."

The Purple Album...
"Thirteen great songs (15 if you bought the deluxe version) all rendered weaker by lesser musicians and the effects of the passage of time on the singer’s voice, this was a car-crash of an idea made worse by its execution."

Saints and Sinners...
"Come An’ Get It’s follow-up – on which Mel Galley replaced Micky Moody – is a marked improvement because someone (the safe money is on DC) cracked the whip and ordered a return to the band’s formative bar-room style."

The last point is about accuracy but the first two seem to delight in crucifying Coverdale, when in reality he is no different or worse than a host of singers now in the final years of their career and who don't get this treatment.

As for the list...1987 would be in my bottom 2 with Slip of the Tongue but thats where it's a personal list I guess.

Looking at the positive, its nice to see appreciation for Come Taste The Band. That album never disappoints.

I don't agree with the rankings of albums but then that's always going to be a matter of personal taste. It's the treatment DC gets and the lack of respect in some of the comments that bug me. The astonishment expressed about the mighty Jimmy Page choosing to form a band with DC particularly grate because at that point in time Page's career was going nowhere whereas DC had become an international star. DC was selling millions of records whereas Page (much like today) wasn't even recording music. So Page had as much to gain (if not more) from the alliance.

I would love to hear Classic Rock give similar stick to the likes of Ozzy who is quite frankly awful live these days.

Good point. I really don't know what is wrong with these guys, they just can't stop slandering David.

Good point. David got Jimmy to play again and play well on what is a rather good album (in need of a remix).

Has anyone heard Jimmy play lately I wonder?

He's going to be out on the road with a new band next year.

Or was that this year?

Or last year?
