Hey Joe 1989...

Does anyone know if the rough jam/rehearsal or Hey Joe from JLTs audition survives? It was mooted as a b side at the time.....

Yes, it does exist, I'd heard some recordings, reportedly from the Vermont sessions, some time ago - with and without Hey Joe. It used to be available on youtube, but somehow it disappeared. Try to look around through google...

Ok thanks Tomek, I’d heard the red fox jam.....but nothing else. Will have a look, what do you recall the other material to have been that you heard?

Sorry, DH - my mistake, I consulted this with some tape collectors and indeed, no "Hey Joe" version with JLT (apart from live renditions) seems to be known.
The story I heard is that "Hey Joe" was recorded in the studio and even played at the official reception introducing Joe's arrival into Purple ranks (in Monte Carlo, 27 March 1991, acc. to my sources), but nothing has leaked out so far.

Re:

I have a tape dating back to december 1989 Vermont which must be the first or one of the first jams with him. They play Going down, That'll be the day and Smoke on the water.

While we're at it, isn't there a new version of S&M coming out with finally Slow down sister added to the tracklist (and the useless Love conquers all edit)?
Won't buy it anyway: I'll wait for a 2cd version including also Fire, ice & dynamite and a second cd with the jams (or a live cd/dvd)
