2017 Tour Setlist!

Well, I wasn't far off it with this year's tour setlist prediction- and admittedly if next year is to feature the 1987 album in its entirety, that makes predicting the setlist somewhat easier. Given that we already have half of the album in this year's setlist, do you think hearing the album in its entirety is something that people are going to get excited about?

I suppose that depends on what you think of the songs on the album which have never been played live- and of course whether we think current WS will do them justice. So, for what it's worth, here's my tuppenceworth on the unplayed live songs from the 1987 album:

Straight For The Heart- I think the band will play this great and I think DC will do fine on the verses, although I would put my mortgage on it being downtuned. The chorus will be sung entirely by the band. A worthy addition to the setlist? Fpr me, this has the potential to work well live.

Don't Turn Away- I like this song and think DC's vocal on the album version is excellent. Not the typical type of song which WS would feature in their live act- but I think the setlist will be all the better for it.

Children of the Night- perfect song to go for a toilet break/go to the bar/go for a cigarette, etc, etc, etc

Looking For Love- the question is whether this would actually be played because remember, this wasn't even on the album in the States! For me, this is one of the album's best track's and an edited version could have given WS another major hit in my opinion. Back in the day with DC at his prime, I would have LOVED this to have been in the setlist. Now, as much as I'd love to hear a great version of this live, I'm not sure we'd get a great version.

Given that the album (plus all the usual solo spots) is going to pretty much fill the set, I don't reckon there would be many (if any) other tracks in the set. If there is, then take your pick from Slide It In, Love Ain't No Stranger, or FFYL.

Touring this album does not fill me with excitement, to be honest, although I recognise its value to David. I would like to hear Looking for Love live though. A great song.

+ You're Gonna Break My Heart Again?

Agreed on Children Of The Night. I never liked it.

Possible tracks could be the 1987 versions of "Standing In The Shadow" and "Need Your Love So Bad" too...

I think that would be a kind of refreshment, just like it was with Purple songs last year.

You're Gonna Break My Heart Again would suit the current band, and I really like the song, but I can't see them playing it. I'm beginning to sound like one of the 'piss and moan' brigade that DC hates but I find it hard to get enthusiastic about a 30th anniversary tour as well. Personally, I thought the 2 shows I saw on the original 1987 tour (in 1988)remain the most disappointing WS gigs I've ever been to.

I appreciate it's difficult for DC- if he's going to continue to tour WS (as seems likely), then there kind of has to be a reason, and if they are not going to do a new album, then an 'anniversary' sort of tour like this is another good way of marketing the shows- especially in the States.
