But that was impossible. Because Ritchie chose not to attend. It seems, that he is the one, who doesn't care for the fans.

As said before, Ian invited Glenn and David to sing SOTW with the current incarnation of the band. He added that sentence to the original statement of the band. He decided that he want to play with them. And when they were there, his only reaction was:
--- "I don't believe it. I finally forgot the words" - Ian Gillan

2.) Honestly - you REALLY believed that some sort of "fake" pretended "Mk2" or "Mk3" reunions (without Jon Lord it´s fake) is going to happen on RRHOF ceremony??? Answer for yourself. Did you REALLY HONESTLY BELIEVED that it´s going to happen? I always expected it will NOT happen, so I could not be disappointed - therefore this whole discussion is actually pointless. And because of my previous point I have actually no problem with that.
3.) I seriously doubt it will affect album sales in any way... I honestly thing that most fans in Europe - we really absolutely do NOT care about RRHOF and success of new album depends mostly on European (Germany, UK) market which are unaffected by these absolutely pointless discussions.
So the fact that some long term DP fans and long time forum members have expressed their disgust at Gillans antics and stated that they have lost respect for the guy is meaningless? There are many many many more fans who have expressed their disgust on the internet as well. Many have said they will no longer support the current touring group but you don't think this will affect sales? Were you an ostrich in a previous life? You didn't expect Blackers ,DC or Glenn to perform with the band ?fair enough, fact is if your honest you DIDNT WANT Blackers,DC and Glenn to perform with the band. And are perversely delighted by the fact that the main man in the bands history was denied his rightful place,as well as two other inductees who attended.Your attitude mirrors your hero Gillan and does you no credit.

Ritchie chose not to attend because it was made clear to him that he was not welcome to perform. And btw you missed the rest of my post which mentions Glenn and DC who DID attend but were also denied the chance to perform.

Re: GH and DC - a member of DP stopped them performing
Look. Everyone knows it was IG. He's the only one with any sort of power in DP anymore (Paice and Glover just go with the flow). So it's fairly obvious without GH saying anything that Gillan didn't want them up there.
Who cares anymore though? I think it was backstage that DC said (paraphrasing) that the Deep Purple family is poor at communication. This is absolutely true. It is what it is.
I can't help but think that if Blackmore showed up Gillan would have had a bit less control over the situation because of Blackmore's status within Deep Purple history. Once Blackmore was out of the picture then it was easy to sideline DC and Glenn.

"fair enough, fact is if your honest you DIDNT WANT Blackers,DC and Glenn to perform with the band."
What a LIE! I wrote numerous times that I would have no problem with such a performance (with full current band!!! and I repeated this everytime!) but I simply respect the decision and FULL RIGHT to decide whether they will perform with them or NOT. I didnt expect them to do that - and it happened according to my expectations (as I told numerous times - RRHOF induction ceremony is event of 3rd grade importance for this year for DP, so I actually dont care about how it ended up). Anything else would be really HUGE suprise for me and everyone else.
jmorton:
You pointed out important factor. MAYBE that jam without Ritchie (who is absolute master of jamming!), jam of three singers was seen as pointless?

We will see. I think those people who are complaining now, didn't buy the last records as well. But who knows? Let's wait, until the next album is out, then we can go on with this discussion and have facts.

Re: GH and DC - a member of DP stopped them performing
And by the way: I think, most people who buy records, don't know anything about this induction. At least in Europe. I read three daily newspapers, I watch news on the tv, listen to them on the radio. Nowhere I read, saw or heard anything about RRHoF and the induction.

You desperately try to use everything to excuse lordship Gillan.
So now DC and GH didn't play because Ritchie wasn't there?
Man you're a joke
