Why Simper wasn't Invited
Total conjecture on my part but if you read the scathing interviews by Steve Miller, and Ricky Nielsen about the cost to attend and how the HOF railroads inductees...i think you can connect the dots that the Hall didn't want to dish out extra cash to someone who probably would have attended from out of the country.
They knew: RB would most likely not attend. THey knew RE was nowhere to be found. DC and GH live in the states. They only would have flown in RG, IP and IG from out of the country and put them up in the hotel and all the other costs, chairmans' dinner etc......just happened by coincidence that IG and RG were already inToronto with ezrin working out the lyrics and vocals for new album...
Hmm 
Would like for DP at some point to allow Simper to sit in and play on a few tunes...maybe 50 yr reunion??

Guess that will never happen. DP had enough opportunities to invite Nick over the years.
If they asked him now for not being invited to the HOF I think it's too late. They should have made a statement like Steve Miller did, but they decided not to.

I'm not sure about that. Don Airey played with Nick last year in Moscow. So there are connections. And they clearly said, they found it's a fault, that Nick wasn't inducted.

And didn't do anything about it.
They could have payed his ticket and pointed out at him during the induction. They even could give Rod's award to him.
And the connection between Don and Nick doesn't say anything. Don's a nice guy, he even has a connection with Ritchie. Doesn't mean there's a chance that Ritchie is showing up during some encore somewhere in time.

Ahh!
I just received A Matter Of Fact in the mail today and on page 188 it mentions that due to the Evans fiasco of '80, a California court ruled that there had to be 3 of 7 original members in the lineup to legally call themselves "Deep Purple".
When DP did a brief tour in '11, Roger sat it out as he had just become a dad and it mentioned that those gigs were technically "illegal" as only the Ian's were members. It goes on to say that if they had asked Nick to fill in, it still would be illegal as he had signed away his rights to the group.
I wonder if his signing away of rights had anything to do then with the HoF excluding him since he wouldn't be considered an original member anymore?

Interesting to hear Roger quip on some of the new interviews to promote the telecast on HBO next week, that it was probably the cost to the HoF as to why other members of DP were not inducted. Good one Rog!! 
Those mofos at HoF need to be exposed.

I heard the same thing but by someone else. It appears that the RNRHOF contacted Simon Robinson(way to late). He suggested Tommy and Nick be inducted. It didn't happen.
