Re: Steve Miller rips Rock and Roll HOF

I think Gillan said exactly the same thing as Miller alas in a slightly different, more diplomatic manner. That's it. I have a lot of respect for Gillan not only for not being afraid to tell the truth but also for standing by his fellow band members. RRHoF can like it or not but the fact is that both Morse and AIrey have been Purple members for so long! It's a true band of friends, and I respect that deeply.

Is the award about friendship between band members? Well, that at least would explain why it took DP so long to get in...

I think touring band isn't the right term for the current line up. If we talked about Sweet for instance, touring band would be correct. There's only one founding member, they don't release albums anymore. In case of Deep Purple there's only also one founding member, but three of the most important line up. And they still release albums and play songs from these albums during their gigs. So they are more than just a touring band like Sweet or others from tha era.

Some of these tracks?
22 years after Blackmore left and after 5 albums the majority of the songs are related to the Blackmore era.
It's time they build a following for the Morse era tracks.
That's the only reason I would go to another DP concert.
Not for listening songs written by Ritchie played by Steve.

Agreed. But in another way I can understand them. I myself play in a theatre group. Right now we play The best of Monty Python's Flying Circus. There are so many scetches we can choose from. But if we make a "setlist", we ask ourselves, which one are the crowd pleasers, which one are those, we love to play. And most times the crowd pleasers win. So for a band with an almost 50 years history, it isn't as easy as we think sometimes. But personally I could live with and would love a setlist of only Mores era tracks.

That's where I'm at. Not paying another penny until the set list is more tilted to the Mk Morse era as opposed to the tribute era.
